There is a certain kind of professional you only meet after years of watching an industry shift around them. Someone who has seen markets rise, fall, and reshape themselves, yet still shows up to work with the same patience and care they started with. Jayne DeHaan is that kind of agent. Raised in the Midwestern heartland of America, she grew up in a climate that, in her own words, demanded full attention, reliability, patience, and what she calls stick-to-it-iveness. Those qualities never left her. They simply followed her into a real estate career that is now in its fiftieth year, with Re/MAX as her professional home.

She is not loud about her work. She does not lean on slogans or self-promotion. What she offers instead is the kind of steady, attentive consulting that long-time clients return to, again and again. In an industry where new faces appear every week, Jayne has built her reputation the slow way, through consistent service, honest communication, and the trust of people who have already worked with her. This is the story of how she does it.

A Career Built on Midwestern Roots

Jayne often points back to where she came from when explaining how she approaches her work. The Midwest, she says, taught her how to face challenges without flinching. It was a place where the weather alone could test a person’s patience, and where finishing what you started mattered. Those early lessons shaped how she runs her business today. She does not rush. She does not cut corners. She works through obstacles the way she was raised to, with focus and follow-through.

A Consultant First, an Agent Second

Jayne does not describe herself as a salesperson. She describes herself as a consultant. That distinction matters to her. She spends much of her time looking ahead, scanning for the small details that could complicate a transaction later. “As a consultant, I am constantly on the alert for any detail, circumstance, or situation that could pose a potential issue in a transaction and suggest possible solutions to ensure an outcome that is satisfactory and fair to all concerned,” she explained. It is a quiet kind of work, often invisible to clients until they realize how smoothly things moved.

Solving Problems Before They Become Problems

Her approach to client care is grounded and practical. She prefers to deal with situations early, before they grow into something harder to manage. When problems do appear, she works through them quickly. And when something cannot be solved, she is honest about it. “I do my best to deal with situations before they become problems. If there are problems, I set about to resolve them quickly and efficiently. If they are insurmountable, I let the parties involved know and, if possible, understand why,” she said. That kind of straightforwardness is rare, and it is part of why clients stay with her for years.

A Career Recognized at the Highest Levels

Jayne has been included many times as a 5-Star Agent by Seattle magazine, in the Re/MAX 100% Club and the Platinum Club. She has received the Re/MAX Lifetime Achievement Award and is a member of the Re/MAX Hall of Fame. She is also a Realtor and abides by the Realtor Code of Ethics, a standard she takes seriously in every transaction. Now in her fiftieth year of real estate work, she has built a record that reflects long stretches of consistent production and a standard of work maintained over many years. Still, she does not lead with these things in conversation. They sit in the background, quiet evidence of a career built on steady effort.

Backed by a Global Network

Her work is supported by the wider strength of Re/MAX, which she notes has long been a leader in sales, production, training, and the quality of its agents. The company’s international network includes over 100,000 affiliates across 53 countries, and a current merger promises to expand its reach and services even further. For Jayne, that network is a resource, but the real work still happens locally, one client and one transaction at a time.

After fifty years in the industry, Jayne’s business runs almost entirely on referrals and returning clients. That, more than any award or affiliation, says what needs to be said about her. People who have worked with her once tend to come back, and they tend to send others her way. It is a quiet kind of success, the kind that only comes from doing the work honestly, year after year. Jayne DeHaan has done exactly that, and she is still doing it today.
