Buying or selling a home is one of the most significant decisions a person can make. In an industry where transactions can sometimes feel impersonal, RealtorĀ® Erica Blair recognizes the attention this decision deserves. Whether she’s working with first-time buyers who need guidance through unfamiliar territory or helping families relocate from out of state, her clients can count on her to tell the truth, even if it’s not what they want to hear.
Erica, a lifelong Michigan resident from Higgins Lake, is in her eighth year of helping people buy and sell homes as a RealtorĀ® with Keller Williams Northern Michigan Team Partners. With a focus on residential properties, her approach is genuine with clear, consistent communication: put people first, be honest, and stay involved long after the paperwork is signed.
A Creative Foundation
Erica’s path to real estate was not a straight line. As a child, she found herself drawn to the unique architectural character of homes in the Cottage Grove Association (Higgins Lake, MI). She later studied at Northern Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in sculpture. That education provided skills that would prove unexpectedly useful later, such as an eye for physical spaces and how to think creatively.
After college, it was off to California, where art galleries and the film industry beckoned. It was here that Erica learned the importance of building genuine connections with people and that relationships matter more than transactions.
Erica eventually returned to her Michigan roots and joined Blarney Stone Broadcasting. This partnership allowed her to foster relationships with local businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the area.
Finding Purpose Through Service

When Erica dedicated a year of service to AmeriCorps and the Grayling Main Street program, it opened her eyes to the housing challenges facing residents in the region. She saw firsthand how difficult it was for people to find suitable homes and knew this was a problem she could help solve. Creative and yet practical, she got her Realtor’s license and began a new career chapter.
“My focus is always on helping people. This doesn’t end after a transaction has been completed.” ā Erica Blair
Earning Trust From a Distance
One of Erica’s signature practices is creating detailed walkthrough videos for clients who cannot visit properties in person.
“I acknowledge how much trust [buyers] have in me to make such a large purchase without seeing the homes personally first,” she said.
These videos are thorough and brutally honest, covering everything from odors to needed repairs. Many of her clients have purchased homes without ever stepping inside them first, relying entirely on her assessments.
In fact, the first two homes she sold after joining Keller Williams were purchased by out-of-state clients who had never seen the properties in person, trusting Erica so completely that they didn’t even request final walkthroughs before closing. For Erica, those early experiences confirmed the importance of honesty and transparency in the industry.
Serving Veterans and the Greater Community
Erica also works closely with veterans, helping them understand and utilize their Veterans Administration (VA) loan benefits. She has developed a dedicated focus on supporting veterans in her area, guiding them through the financing process and making sure they get the support they deserve. This work is personal for her. Her brother and both of her grandfathers served in the military, so she understands the sacrifices these families make.
Another way Erica gives back to her community is through organizing fun and educational events. She’s currently working with a lender to create an event to help veterans better understand their VA benefits.
Beyond individual transactions and events, Erica also donates $100 from each closing to an area nonprofit animal rescue and helps organize community outreach and adoption events. Erica’s efforts highlight how real estate is about more than buying and selling properties; it is about strengthening the places where people live.
Through simplicity and honesty, Erica focuses on what matters most: helping people confidently reach their goals.
