In a fast-paced world marked by disconnection and burnout, Brett Hill stands as a beacon of mindful leadership and authentic connection. As the founder of The Mindful Coach® and The Mindful Coach Association, Brett merges decades of expertise in mindfulness and technology to empower leaders, coaches, and change-makers to elevate their presence and impact.

A Journey of Transformation

Brett’s path to becoming “The Mindful Coach” was anything but ordinary. Beginning with a degree in interpersonal communication, he forged a successful career as a technology expert, earning recognition as a Microsoft “Most Valuable Professional” for nine consecutive years and authoring books on digital solutions. As a senior technical evangelist for Microsoft, he traveled globally, speaking at conferences and training professionals. Yet, beneath his professional success, a calling for deeper human connection led him to explore mindfulness-based somatic psychology.

Training under luminaries like Ron Kurtz, founder of Hakomi, and studying group leadership with Amina Knowlan, creator of Matrix Leadership, Brett developed a profound understanding of mindfulness as a tool for personal and professional transformation. His dedication to mindfulness practice led him to found the Quest Institute meditation center in Dallas, where he began teaching others the power of mindful awareness.

Championing Mindfulness in Coaching

Brett’s work is rooted in the belief that mindfulness is an essential skill for leaders and coaches navigating today’s challenges. His signature program, The Mindful Coach Method®, introduces participants to somatic techniques that foster authentic communication and transformational coaching presence. The program has gained recognition from prestigious organizations, with Reciprocoach.com featuring his “Mindfulness and Presence for Coaches FastTrack” course in their curriculum.

He champions innovative approaches to mindfulness practice, including what he calls “Mindfulness V2.” This updated approach emphasizes micro-mindfulness practices—frequent, brief moments of presence throughout the day—over traditional lengthy meditation sessions. “Frequency is more important than duration,” Brett explains, making mindfulness more accessible and practical for busy professionals.

Building Community and Connection

As the host of The Mindful Coach Podcast and founder of The Mindful Coach Association, Brett has created a thriving community of mindful professionals. The association grew from zero to over 200 coaches in just a few months through organic growth, demonstrating the strong demand for mindfulness-based approaches in coaching and leadership.

His achievements include co-creating The Future is Mindful Conference, featuring keynote speakers such as Tami Simon, CEO of Sounds True, and Diana Winston, director of the Mindfulness Awareness Research Center at UCLA. This event exemplified Brett’s commitment to bringing together thought leaders in the mindfulness space.

Leadership Philosophy and Vision

Brett’s leadership philosophy centers on the principle of “Being, then doing.” He believes that effective leadership flows from authentic presence and connection. “Who do you need to be, to have the conversations you need to have?” he often quotes, emphasizing the importance of personal development in professional success.

His approach is backed by extensive credentials, including certifications from the International Coaching Federation, training as a Somatic Wellness & Mindfulness Coach, and certification as a Mindful Facilitator through the Institute for Organizational Mindfulness. He’s also an alumnus of the Inner MBA by Sounds True, bringing over a thousand hours of combined training in Hakomi, Matrix Group Leadership, and various body-centered practices.

A Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, Brett is dedicated to expanding the reach of mindfulness in professional contexts. His upcoming projects include growing The Mindful Coach Association and podcast, developing a certification path for mindful coaches, and integrating AI technology to improve coach-client matching. He envisions a Mindful Coach Association Summit and aims to present at TedX, continuing to spread the message of mindful leadership.

“People are more disconnected, isolated, burned out and confused than ever,” Brett observes, “and these are the skills that help directly.” His work is grounded in neuroscience while acknowledging the importance of integrating spiritual aspects into business and organizational life.

Through his leadership, The Mindful Coach Association is becoming a collective voice for meaningful, connected, and impactful work. As Brett often says, “Together we are a mighty force” and “This work is too important to do alone.”
