Author & Speaker Marc Henn, CEO and Founder of Harvest Financial Advisors, brings over three decades of multi-family office and wealth management experience. His book, Power Plays of the Wealthy, examines how both affluent individuals and everyday citizens engage with the same tax incentive systems. The distinction, he argues, lies in the fact that the wealthy often understand how to benefit from these incentives, while those without specialized knowledge may end up contributing more to them. As the first installment in what he describes as a transformative series, Henn guides readers on crafting a financial plan designed to accumulate wealth over time.

Henn’s financial career began in high school after taking a personal finance course. During this class, he selected a stock that garnered enthusiasm from peers and reportedly achieved a 45% return in three months. Inspired by the investment “bug,” he later participated in the AT&T Collegiate Investment Challenge and reportedly ranked among the top 50 in the nation. He proudly notes he still owns his prized competition sweatshirt.

Power Plays of the Wealthy

In Power Plays of the Wealthy, the inaugural book in his Transformational Wealth series, Henn outlines strategies often utilized by wealthy investors, aiming to make them accessible to a broader audience. He suggests there are lesser-known facets of finance that some financial advisors might overlook. The key to uncovering these opportunities, he proposes, may lie in understanding how the wealthy leverage five super asset classes and government incentives to grow their wealth.

Henn’s analysis highlights how many citizens inadvertently participate in these systems, regardless of awareness. This revelation, he writes, may leave readers with two potential paths: either apply the financial strategies to work toward accumulating wealth or, without such planning, potentially contribute more through taxes.

Strategies

Power Plays of the Wealthy weaves in life lessons that shaped Henn’s financial philosophy. One anecdote recounts his early exposure to how fear and greed can disrupt even a well-considered financial strategy.

As a youth, Henn collected two Billy Beer cans—a product endorsed by President Carter’s brother, Billy Carter, who capitalized on his public profile to promote the brand. When production halted in 1978, the cans’ value reportedly surged, prompting a $500 offer for the set. However, Henn’s father advised holding out for a higher price. Soon after, the market for the cans collapsed, leaving Henn with a cautionary lesson about how emotional decisions can undermine financial planning.

Future Aspirations

Henn acknowledges that financial literacy gaps persist, leaving many unaware of how strategic planning could impact their financial futures. His book series seeks to address this by sharing insights that may help readers build sustainable wealth. As the series progresses, Henn plans to broaden his outreach through speaking engagements, emphasizing that with education and disciplined strategies, individuals have the potential to achieve greater financial success.
