How the founder of Tact Tech Security Solutions turned a vision for smarter, more accountable security into a statewide operation with more than 250 professionals.
For Taylor Matchton, APP, Founder, President and CEO of Tact Tech Security Solutions, building a security company was never simply about putting guards at posts.
It was about building a better system.
When Mr. Matchton founded Tact Tech Security Solutions in 2018, he entered an industry where security services were often treated as interchangeable: hire an officer, fill a shift and move on to the next contract. Mr. Matchton saw an opportunity to approach the business differently.
His vision was to combine professional security personnel with modern technology, rigorous training, stronger operational oversight and a level of customer service more commonly associated with hospitality than traditional private security.
Eight years later, that idea has grown into a statewide Florida security organization with more than 250 security professionals serving residential communities, commercial properties, healthcare facilities, special events and executive protection clients.
Despite the company’s rapid growth, Mr. Matchton remains closely involved in operations, client relationships and service quality.
That hands-on leadership philosophy has become part of the company’s identity and, perhaps more importantly, part of the reason it has been able to scale without abandoning the standards on which it was founded. For Mr. Matchton, growth isn’t simply about getting bigger.
It’s about getting better.
Building the Company He Thought the Industry Needed
The philosophy behind Tact Tech can be summed up in one deceptively simple idea: security should be treated as a complete operational system, not a staffing service.
“We do not just fill posts – we build complete security programs,” Mr. Matchton says.
That distinction has shaped virtually every aspect of the business.
Tact Tech has developed a 24/7 Security Operations and Dispatch Center designed to provide continuous communication, rapid response and operational oversight. Its technology infrastructure includes body-worn cameras, GPS-enabled patrol tracking, geofencing, activity logs, digital reporting, timestamped incident documentation and live officer monitoring.
Today, Tact Tech supports clients across Florida through more than 250 security professionals, a 24/7 Security Operations and Dispatch Center, regional management, field supervisors and a dedicated training academy.
For clients, that means security becomes significantly more visible.
Instead of simply assuming a patrol was completed or an officer was where they were supposed to be, Tact Tech’s model is designed around documentation and accountability.
That may sound like an operational detail. For Mr. Matchton, it represents something much larger. It is a philosophy of leadership.
What gets documented gets managed. What gets managed gets improved.
That mindset is woven throughout the organization, from how officers are supervised to how incidents are documented and how leadership evaluates performance.
Technology Is Only Half the Equation
For a company with “Tech” in its name, it would be easy to assume that technology is the central story. It isn’t. People are.
Mr. Matchton has built the company around the belief that technology can make security professionals more effective, but it cannot replace judgment, professionalism, communication or training. That philosophy led to the development of the Tact Tech Training Academy, which provides security officer training, certification and continuing professional development, with an emphasis on raising industry standards through education.
The company’s culture is built on its VIP values: Vigilance, Integrity and Professionalism. Those values are carried into the field through three operating pillars: Training, Technology and Standards. These aren’t intended to live on a poster in an office. Tact Tech describes them as “enforceable expectations.” That distinction says a great deal about Mr. Matchton as a founder. His goal is not simply to build a large security workforce. It is to build a professional and accountable security organization.
A Founder Who Has Stayed Close to the Ground
As Tact Tech has expanded, Mr. Matchton has remained intentionally connected to the company’s day-to-day operations.
His leadership style remains decidedly hands-on, with direct involvement in clients, operations and quality assurance. His background includes extensive experience in community security management, and he holds the Associate Protection Professional (APP) credential.
That operational proximity matters in security.
A sophisticated technology platform means very little if officers aren’t properly trained. A strong sales organization means little if clients don’t receive consistent service. And rapid expansion can quickly become a liability if leadership loses visibility into what is happening in the field.
Mr. Matchton’s answer has been to create layers of accountability throughout Tact Tech.
Supervisors conduct site inspections. Officers maintain regular communication with dispatch. Performance, attendance, reporting and professionalism are reviewed. Technology provides live visibility into patrol activity. Leadership remains involved.
The goal is not complexity for complexity’s sake. It is consistency.
Rethinking What Security Looks Like in Florida
Florida presents an especially interesting environment for a company like Tact Tech.
The state’s continued development has created enormous residential communities, gated neighborhoods, commercial properties and public spaces that require increasingly sophisticated security operations.
Mr. Matchton believes the traditional model has to evolve alongside them.
A security officer stationed at the entrance of a community isn’t merely standing at a gate. That individual may be the first person a resident sees when arriving home, the first interaction a visitor has with a property and the first person expected to respond when something goes wrong. Security, in other words, is simultaneously about protection, customer service, communication and community experience.
That is why Tact Tech’s model pairs what the company calls “concierge-level service” with firm enforcement. Officers are expected to be polished and service-minded while maintaining clear security standards. The combination is intentional. Mr. Matchton isn’t interested in choosing between hospitality and enforcement. He believes great security requires both.
Turning Accountability Into a Competitive Advantage
One of the more interesting aspects of Mr. Matchton’s approach is that many of the systems Tact Tech has implemented are designed to make the company itself more accountable.
Body-worn cameras create transparency. GPS-enabled patrol tools provide visibility into officer movement and completed patrols. Digital dashboards allow clients to access reports and incident information. Supervisory structures create additional layers of review.
In an industry built around trust, Mr. Matchton is effectively arguing that clients shouldn’t have to rely on trust alone. They should be able to see the work.
It is a modern philosophy for private security, one that resembles the transparency and data-driven management systems used in other service industries.
The result is a company that combines the capabilities of a traditional security provider with the visibility of a technology platform and the responsiveness of an operational partner.
The Purpose Behind the Work
For Mr. Matchton, the drive to build something meaningful is deeply personal. After losing his mother, Christine, to lung cancer, he carried her memory forward as a source of strength and purpose. His faith in God and devotion to his family remain at the center of how he leads, serves and continues building.
“Everything I do is for God, in honor of my mother and for my family,” Mr. Matchton says. “Every milestone is connected to that purpose.”
Building Beyond the Business
Mr. Matchton’s leadership extends beyond Tact Tech. In 2026, he was named Young Professional of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches in recognition of his business leadership, community impact and professional excellence. He also serves as Chair of the Young Professionals of the Palm Beaches, a Chamber Trustee and Ambassador, and is a graduate of Leadership West Palm Beach’s Class of 2026. Through these roles, Mr. Matchton remains actively involved in strengthening the region’s business community, developing emerging leaders and supporting local public-safety initiatives.
Tact Tech’s leadership also maintains involvement with ASIS International, while the company supports local charities, community events, first responders and public safety initiatives.
That community involvement fits naturally into Mr. Matchton’s larger philosophy.
Security, at its best, isn’t simply about responding when something goes wrong.
It is about helping create environments where people feel comfortable living, working and building their lives.
The Next Chapter of Tact Tech
There is an entrepreneurial lesson buried inside Tact Tech’s rise.
Mr. Matchton’s innovation was not based on reinventing the purpose of security, but on rethinking how security companies should operate. He asked what would happen if officers were trained more rigorously. If technology provided clients with greater visibility. If leadership stayed involved after a contract was signed. If security officers were expected to understand customer service as well as enforcement. If accountability became part of the product rather than something addressed only when there was a problem. Those questions became operating principles. And those operating principles became a company.
Today, Tact Tech Security Solutions represents the model Mr. Matchton envisioned when he founded the company in 2018: highly trained professionals supported by modern technology, active supervision and measurable accountability. With more than 250 security professionals, statewide capabilities, a dedicated training academy and a 24/7 Security Operations and Dispatch Center, the company is positioned for continued expansion.
But Mr. Matchton’s goal reaches beyond growth. He is working to prove that private security can be more professional, transparent, service-oriented and accountable, and, in doing so, establish a new standard for the industry. After eight years of building, refining and raising expectations, Taylor Matchton and Tact Tech Security Solutions are only getting started.
