Steven A. Mosley: A Story of Loss, Legacy, and Lifelong Advocacy for Mental Health and Violence Prevention

By: Maria Williams

Steven A. Mosley is no stranger to hardship. A man of many talents—music, acting, film, and business—he has turned his tumultuous life into a beacon of hope for others. From losing two brothers to gun violence to the devastating death of his mother, Steven faced dark times that could have shattered any other person, Not him though. Instead, he rose, transforming his pain into purpose. Today, Steven is a multifaceted entrepreneur, public figure, and community advocate, using his experiences and passion to uplift others facing similar struggles.

Born and raised in Chicago, Steven’s life took a tragic turn when gun violence claimed the lives of his brothers. The grief of those losses, compounded by the death of his beloved mother when he was just 21, sent Steven into a downward spiral. ā€œMy journey hasn’t always been great,ā€ he recalls. ā€œI was almost homeless, raising my daughter, and all of this while dealing with my own childhood trauma and personal experiences. But I persevered!ā€ Steven’s resilience is not just a personal testament but the driving force behind his not-for-profit, A Project Solution 2 Corp. ā€œTransformation of renewed minds.ā€

This non-profit, born from Steven’s desire to combat gun violence and heal communities, goes beyond surface-level advocacy. ā€œWe realized it was deeper than just stopping violence—it’s about mental health,ā€ Steven explains. His organization, now active across social media, provides mental health services through licensed therapists and a crisis hotline, addressing the root causes of violence in the community. ā€œPeople don’t just kill people for no reason. There are deeper, spiritual and mental issues at play,ā€ he says, describing the organization’s holistic approach.

A pivotal moment for Steven came when he saved a young boy’s life during a phone call with a client. The boy, on the brink of suicide, was brought back from the edge by Steven’s quick intervention and spiritual support. This incident catalyzed the creation of a crisis hotline, one of the many resources now available through A Project Solution 2. ā€œLoving and kindness is our message, and we’re here to help people heal,ā€ he says.

Steven’s entrepreneurial journey is just as inspiring. After his mother’s death, he needed an obituary, which led him to start a printing business. Today, that business—SAM Living Legacy LLC—provides printing, graphic design, and financial services to clients across the U.S. ā€œMy mother’s legacy lives on through my work,ā€ he notes, explaining how her memory inspires his entrepreneurial ventures. In addition to the printing company, Steven owns SAM Mobile Taxes, a tax advisory service that caters to individuals from coast to coast, providing consultations in homes, coffee shops, or virtually.

But Steven’s contributions don’t stop at business. His background in TV and radio adds another layer to his diverse resume. Volunteering with Probation Challenge—a program supporting ex-offenders—opened doors for him in media, and it was through this platform that Steven met renowned public figures such as former President Barack Obama. ā€œThat was a turning point for me,ā€ Mosley reflects. ā€œI finally found my niche in media, and it pushed me into theater and stage production.ā€

Despite his impressive list of accomplishments, Steven remains humble and driven by his Christian faith. His spirituality and belief in God have been cornerstones of his resilience, helping him navigate the many challenges in his life. Steven’s dedication to uplifting others mirrors his belief that: ā€œChildren are our future.ā€ As a school counselor at Paul Robeson High School in Englewood, he helped guide students through difficult times, just as he had once been guided.

Looking ahead, Steven has no intention of slowing down. He is currently planning to establish a film production company and wants to educate youth about taxes and the film industry. ā€œI want to continue my legacy and testimony,ā€ he says, ā€œAnd this is just the beginning.ā€

Through it all, Steven Mosley’s message is clear: no matter how dark life gets, there is always hope for a better future. His journey from almost homeless to becoming a true hero serves as an inspiration to anyone facing seemingly insurmountable odds. By turning his personal tragedies into platforms for change, Steven has become a force for good, helping others heal and find purpose. His story is not just about overcoming adversity but about using that adversity to transform lives—his own and those of the people he serves.
