The transition from the bustling energy of New York City to the sophisticated charm of Naples, Florida, isn’t always seamless. But for Sherry L. Batrus, this geographical shift became the foundation of a successful and rewarding real estate career that is helping redefine luxury service in Southwest Florida’s prestigious market.

A New York Foundation, A Florida Future

After spending over 35 years living and working in New York City, with weekends and summers in the Hamptons, Sherry and her husband made the pivotal decision to transition to Naples in 2015. What began as a lifestyle change evolved into a professional calling that would see Sherry and her partner, Gwen Geletka, emerge as respected luxury real estate specialists.

“I was once asked what my hobby was, and I couldn’t think of an answer,” Sherry reflects. “After some introspection, it came to me that my hobby is my work. I love the customers I work with. I love meeting and getting to know people. I enjoy learning about their lives and families, where they’re from, and what kind of work they do. And most importantly, what their goals are and how I can be of service to them.”

Breaking Through in a Competitive Market

Sherry’s commitment to excellence is reflected in her impressive credentials as both a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) and a Certified Negotiation Expert (CNE). These qualifications proved invaluable in March 2023, when she achieved her significant professional milestone to date.

The property at 128 Bayview Avenue in Vanderbilt Beach presented a unique challenge as it had been destroyed by Hurricane Ian the previous fall. Although a waterfront listing, it was essentially land only – a proposition that required exceptional skill to navigate and would require a considerable additional investment to build on. Listed initially at $12.0 million, Sherry knew the realistic market value was around $10.0 million.

“The negotiations dragged on for a week and were quite stressful as I was up against one of the best in the business,” she recalls. “However, luck was with me and I was able to get the deal done at $10.0 million.”

Record-Breaking Achievement

The success of this complex transaction resonated far beyond a single sale. The $10.0 million deal ranked as the second-highest transaction in Collier County that month, securing Sherry’s position as #3 on her office’s Top Ten list among over 100 agents and #17 on the company’s Top Twenty list out of 850 agents. The achievement was featured in Business Observer on July 31, 2023, highlighting her company, John R. Wood Christie’s International Real Estate, and it remains one of the top MLS-listed sales in Vanderbilt Beach.

Beyond the Numbers: A Philosophy of Service

While impressive sales figures capture attention, Sherry’s true measure of success lies elsewhere. “Personally, I am not interested in hosting the most listings. The most important thing to me is providing the premier experience for my customers, regardless of their price range. I want customers to know they can trust me always to put their best interests first.”

This philosophy extends to every aspect of her service. Recognizing that many of her clients are high-net-worth individuals with demanding careers who own homes across the country or world, she provides what she describes as “true concierge serviceā€. This includes everything from connecting clients with attorneys, accountants, and insurance agents to recommending doctors, dentists, restaurants, and even housekeepers and dog walkers.

The Ultimate Validation

“A big sale is always exciting, but what’s even more rewarding is ending the day knowing you’ve served your customer well and that they’re happy with both the service you provided and the results achieved,” Sherry explains. This sentiment is validated by her consistently glowing testimonials, all of which maintain five-star ratings across all price ranges.

One client noted: “We had the privilege of working with Sherry Batrus at John R. Wood as we began our search for real estate in Southwest Florida. She did a great job from start to finish in a very competitive housing market. My wife and I have high expectations, and Sherry was truly remarkable. She has an upbeat attitude regardless of the challenge.”

Supporting Excellence Through Industry Leadership

Sherry’s success is amplified by her association with John R. Wood/Christies International Real Estate, the #1 real estate brokerage in Southwest Florida, with closed sales volume of $4.5 billion in 2024. As an affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate, the company offers access to a global network of 10,000 sales associates across 50 countries, providing the international reach that today’s luxury market demands. ā€œ I am fortunate to have a great partner in Gwen and extremely grateful for the outstanding training and support I’ve received from company leadership, from our president, Corey McCloskey, to my managing broker, Ryan Bleggiā€.Ā Ā Ā

Her company’s confidence in her abilities is further demonstrated by their submission of her name for RealTrends’ Verified designation. This recognition would place her among the industry’s premier performers on a national scale.

A Life Well-Lived

Outside of real estate, Sherry and her husband continue to enjoy their love for travel, having recently returned from a week in Rome and a Mediterranean cruise. They enjoy dining out and spending time with family and friends. At the same time, Sherry remains committed to giving back through her support of the Patty Baker Humane Society of Naples, where she contributes financially and attends events, bringing customers as guests.

As Sherry positions herself for the future, her message remains clear: “I am a dedicated professional who brings strong values, ethics, and concierge service to the customers I work with and for. Am I perfect? No, but I always give my utmost and always put my customers’ best interests first.”

In a market where luxury real estate transactions may exceed $225 million – as seen in a recent Port Royal sale that eclipsed comparable markets in the Hamptons, Palm Beach, and Malibu – Sherry L. Batrus has carved out a small but distinctive niche built not just on impressive sales figures, but on the fundamental belief that real estate success is ultimately measured by the relationships built and the trust earned along the way.
