In 2012, she launched Promising Integration Consulting Firm, Inc (PICF, Inc.), a female black-owned IT consulting Firm located in Detroit, Michigan, with over 18+ years of experience providing IT consulting services to small and midsize companies. Burkette’s clients range from IT Startups to Government contracts. PICF, Inc provides the following IT services: (1) Network Infrastructure, (2) Cloud Integration, (3) IT Security, (4) Instructional Technology Tools and Training, and (5) Education IT Solutions C-suite management. Christine is in the process of completing her federal female minority IT supplier WOSB/WBE Certification. Her goal is to employ an additional 100 to 200 IT experts by 2023. Christine Burkette completed a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Delaware State University (HBCU), with a minor in music. She completed her first master’s at Capella University, majoring in curriculum and instruction design. Her second master’s at Marygrove College in chemistry and school administrator certification. Christine is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Psychology and Technology at Michigan State University.
Christine started her career in a fortune 100 company and began the leap between education and corporate, spanning 15 years. Christine considers one of her significant accomplishments was being contracted to develop and deploy General Motors’ enterprise-wide new hire onboarding program. Her success was recognized in an article published in US Black Engineer & IT Volume 45 Issue 1, pages 24-25, published on December 23, 2020. She launched the program with the support of the top executives at General Motors, with Mary Barra kicking off the program at the world headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Following her success in corporate, Christine returned to education, working at Detroit Public School Community District as the CIO.
Christine is a highly sought-after IT and Education expert contracted by various school districts and small businesses during the pandemic. Her success and expertise were recognized when Stratix invited her to work as a contributing consultant on a project presented to the Michigan Department of Education — providing school districts with laptops and tablets to remote IT support during the pandemic. Christine was a guest on their podcast, The Future of K-12 Education – Beyond the Four Walls Episode 7, 16/10/20,43:50. She was also featured as an expert in the article Rapidly Addressing Remote Learning Capabilities for Students in the City of Detroit with the help of Stratix.
Over the past six years, Christine has spoken worldwide in the field of IT and equity, diversity, and inclusion. For the past five years, she has been a featured speaker at the Women of Color in Stem Conference and BEYA Conference. Last year at the BEYA conference, she was featured in the “Design Thinking” virtual session. For the 2021 Women Of Color in STEM conference, “Your Business is Talking. Do You Have the Tools to Listen” Christine will again be the primary speaker.
