For over a decade, Sairohith Thummarakoti has dedicated himself to healthcare information technology (IT), cloud computing, and enterprise application development, tackling industry challenges with innovative solutions. His journey led him to HCA Healthcare, where he now leads initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare operations and modernizing aging systems.
His contributions to advancing healthcare technology recently earned him a 2025 Global Recognition Award, which highlights his efforts to improve the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare systems. When discussing his philosophy, Thummarakoti emphasizes a simple truth: “Technology should connect healthcare providers, researchers, and patients efficiently.”
Developing Better Healthcare Solutions
Throughout his career, Thummarakoti has worked to improve how healthcare organizations manage public health and automate enterprise systems. When the pandemic created new challenges, he stepped up to modernize the COVID-19 Vaccine tracker application. The result was a cloud-based system that serves over a million users, helping monitor vaccine distribution and employee health management in real-time, even during the most demanding periods.
“We needed the system to handle massive demand increases while maintaining speed,” he recalls. His deep understanding of cloud systems proved essential, as the migration to cloud computing enabled these demanding requirements to be met. Under his guidance, essential healthcare applications ran smoothly, even during peak stress.
At Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Thummarakoti’s work contributed to improved early cancer detection methods. He developed sophisticated data applications that provide oncologists and researchers with new tools, combining long-term health tracking with advanced analytics to help identify cancer earlier. He explains, “We can use cloud systems and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis to help researchers spot patterns and detect cancer sooner.”
Making Health Insurance and Provider Systems Work Better
Healthcare administration has long struggled with slow workflows and manual tasks. Thummarakoti addressed these challenges through his work in health insurance automation. He streamlined claims processing at a leading healthcare provider, significantly reducing resolution times. His Provider Lifecycle Management system simplified how healthcare providers operate nationwide, helping eliminate bottlenecks and creating smoother interactions between providers and patients.
His work at HCA Healthcare focused on fundamental improvements, such as faster SQL queries, reduced technical problems, and modernized cloud platforms. These changes ensure that critical healthcare applications remain reliable and adaptable to new needs.
“When we upgrade systems, it must improve efficiency and access,” Thummarakoti explains. “Patients and providers should see clear benefits from better healthcare technology.”
Leadership in Healthcare IT
While his technical achievements have been notable, Thummarakoti has also become a valued mentor in the Pega community. His work in healthcare IT earned him the Pegasystems Impact Award, which recognizes his improvements to healthcare applications like the COVID-19 vaccine tracker and oncology application with grail integration.
His influence extends through his writing, with over 25 articles exploring healthcare IT, enterprise modernization, and cloud security. In his book, Pega Cloud 3 Modern Enterprise Solutions Guide (Volumes 1 and 2), he shares insights about cloud computing, Kubernetes, microservices, and SaaS architectures.
Teaching others remains central to his mission. Since joining the Pega community in 2016, he has guided developers through complex application challenges, shared effective methods, and pursued a Pega Coach certification. “Technology helps most when shared. Teaching new IT professionals ensures continued healthcare progress,” he says.
Future Healthcare Solutions
As healthcare technology and enterprise cloud solutions continue advancing, Thummarakoti sees new possibilities emerging. As a Pega Care Management specialist, he works to align enterprise solutions with healthcare standards, fostering practical improvements for providers and patients.
His recent 2025 Global Recognition Award reflects his growing influence on healthcare IT progress. Through his membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), and the British Computer Society (BCS), he collaborates with industry experts to advance healthcare IT capabilities.
Thummarakoti’s vision for the future is clear. “Healthcare must become digital, expandable, and available to everyone. We build technology to achieve this goal.”
