In a market where trust often takes longer to build than a transaction takes to close, Mike Schlichte has spent the better part of twenty years doing the steady, patient work of earning it.

Based in the Greater Wausau area of Wisconsin, Mike has been a real estate professional since 2005 and a broker since 2013. His work covers residential homes, recreational land, new construction, and commercial real estate sales, but the thread running through all of it is a steady, no-nonsense approach to helping clients move through one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

He joined First Weber Realtors in 2011 and has remained with the company through the changing rhythms of the Wisconsin market. Over the years, he has consistently ranked in the top 10 percent for sales volume within his local MLS, according to information provided for this article. What follows is a closer look at how Mike approaches his clients, his craft, and the community he has spent two decades serving.

A Career Built Deliberately

Mike began his real estate career in 2005, and the years since have helped shape both his perspective and his approach to the business. In 2013, he earned his Real Estate Broker’s license, expanding the depth of expertise and level of service he is able to provide to his clients.

When Mike joined First Weber Realtors in 2011, he found a professional home within a company with deep roots throughout Wisconsin. That partnership has allowed him to focus primarily on the Greater Wausau area while continuing to work across a range of property types, including residential homes, recreational land, waterfront properties, new construction, and occasional commercial transactions.

The Right Product at the Right Price

When asked what has carried him through some of the harder market conditions, Mike points to a simple discipline.

“I contribute my success, even in the most challenging market conditions, to a straightforward but disciplined approach: ensuring the right product is matched with the right price,” he said.

That sentence carries more weight than it first appears to. Strategic pricing, in his view, is not about chasing a number that sounds good. It is about reading the market honestly and giving clients a realistic path forward. None of it works, he said, without a healthy dose of good old-fashioned hard work.

What Clients Can Count On

Equally important is Mike’s commitment to staying connected with clients long after the sale is complete. For Mike, service does not end at the closing table. He takes pride in being a resource for clients for years to come, whether they need a contractor, a handyman, recommendations for local restaurants, or guidance on where to shop for furniture after moving in.

His approach is built around availability, practical knowledge, and a willingness to share the local network he has developed throughout his career. That continued support helps clients feel connected to the community beyond the closing process.

Meeting Clients Where They Are

The people who walk into Mike’s office tend to share a few common concerns. Some are first-time buyers feeling the weight of a process they have never been through. Others are experienced investors searching for a specific land opportunity. What ties them together is a sense of uncertainty, a worry about communication gaps, and the stress of the unknown.

Mike sees his job as bridging the gap between where clients are and where they want to be. He leans on broker-level experience refined since 2005 and applies it through careful pricing, transparency, ethical advocacy, and steady process management.

Recognition and What Comes Next

Within First Weber and its parent network under Home Services, Mike holds Legend status, a designation given to agents with ten or more consecutive years of exceptional sales performance. He is also a Senior Executive Associate at the First Weber Wausau office, a title that reflects consistent success in both listing and buying transactions. First Weber Realtors itself was acquired by a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate in 2020, further solidifying its place in Wisconsin. For Mike, the recognition matters, but the work matters more. The next client, the next deal, the next honest conversation. That is where his focus stays.

A Life Rooted Outside the Office

Mike’s personal life is just as rewarding as his professional career. He and his wife, Christine, have been together since their junior high school days, having grown up in the same neighborhood. They are the proud parents of three adult children and the delighted grandparents of ten grandchildren at the time of this writing.

Both Mike and Christine are actively involved in their local church and enjoy life on their 40-acre homestead just outside the Wausau city limits. An avid outdoorsman, Mike is passionate about hunting, fishing, and trapping. He is also an accomplished musician who can often be found performing at venues throughout Central Wisconsin.
