At a time when health care innovation demands bold visionaries, Manny Singh is carving a path as a disruptive force in medical technology. As chief executive officer and co-founder of SensTek Diagnostics, Mr. Singh spearheads a mission to revolutionize at-home health care through small diagnostic devices capable of detecting viruses and bacteria. His goal is to offer both qualitative and quantitative results at a fraction of the cost of current lab-based solutions.
Mr. Singh’s transition from a seasoned career in the semiconductor industry to health care marks a pursuit driven by personal conviction. His extensive 20-year background working with Fortune 500 semiconductor companies, such as Broadcom, Renesas Electronics and Integrated Device Technology, provided him with expertise in miniaturization technology. He now leverages this proficiency to create handheld diagnostic solutions that may transform patient care and environmental monitoring.
A Visionary Shift in Health Care
“I’ve often been asked why large, established companies haven’t pursued what we’re doing,” Mr. Singh noted. “People assume if big firms with billions couldn’t achieve this, how could we? But that skepticism excites me. We’re proving that our eclectic team of passionate engineers, scientists and doctors can do what’s never been done.”
Mr. Singh credits his team’s diverse skill set as a critical factor in SensTek’s potential to disrupt an industry historically skeptical of point-of-care diagnostics. Their work aims to dismantle the negative perception surrounding such devices by delivering practical, effective solutions to do molecular diagnostics anywhere without requiring special staff or training.
The futuristic vision guiding Mr. Singh involves more than just diagnostic tools. He imagines a scenario straight from science fiction: “A mirror in your bathroom tells you, ‘You have this disease.’ I’ve sent your prescriptions to your 3D printer. They’re ready for you.” He views SensTek’s handheld diagnostic devices as foundational steps toward realizing this ambitious future of turning home bathrooms into advanced health care centers.
Throughout his career, Mr. Singh has introduced innovative technologies previously considered unattainable due to cost constraints. Among his proudest achievements is developing affordable wireless charging technologies – once a luxury, now commonplace. His forward thinking is highlighted by 13 granted patents, particularly in inductive wireless power transfer systems.
Commitment to Mentorship and Community
Mr. Singh attributes his achievements to exceptional mentors and emphasizes giving back as a cornerstone of effective leadership. His father, a significant personal mentor, instilled a powerful example by emigrating from India to the U.S. as an economic migrant worker, later obtaining citizenship and raising a family that thrived through dedication and community contribution.
Looking ahead, Mr. Singh is determined not only to release SensTek’s groundbreaking products but also to engage in philanthropy. Currently, he is collaborating with the American Red Cross and other organizations to ensure SensTek’s innovations reach underserved communities. His hope is to alleviate disparities in underserved communities and stimulate opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs and young professionals.
Mr. Singh’s commitment to inspiring others is evident in his active mentoring and public speaking, through which he regularly advises young people to “stay hungry for knowledge and never fear the unknown.” He understands firsthand the anxiety of navigating new professional landscapes and finds fulfillment in providing reassurance and guidance.
Driven by a spirit of purposeful technological disruption, inspired by family, and dedicated to community service, Mr. Singh’s vision for SensTek Diagnostics is clear and compelling: democratizing medical diagnostics to ensure better health outcomes for all.
