For many water treatment companies, getting leads is not necessarily the hardest part.

The harder part is turning those leads into real conversations with homeowners who are actually interested in solving a problem.

That was the focus when Hydro Demand began working with Wellspring Water Filtration of St. Louis.

Rather than optimizing the campaign simply around the cheapest possible lead, Hydro Demand focused on a metric much closer to what the business actually needed: booked appointments.

The result was more than 110 appointments generated from approximately $10,000 in direct advertising spend, keeping the advertising cost below $100 per booked appointment.

Campaign tracking also showed an approximately 28% close rate from the opportunities generated.

For Hydro Demand founder Uneeb Aamer, the campaign was a practical example of something he has increasingly emphasized when working with water treatment companies.

A lead by itself does not tell you very much.

What happens after the lead matters more.

Focusing on the Outcome

Wellspring Water Filtration of St. Louis works with homeowners throughout the St. Louis area on residential water treatment solutions.

Like many water treatment companies, its growth depends on consistently getting in front of homeowners who have a real reason to consider improving their water.

Hydro Demand approached the campaign with that in mind.

The goal was not simply to fill a spreadsheet with names and phone numbers.

The goal was to create enough qualified homeowner interest to consistently put appointments on the calendar.

That meant looking beyond what happened inside Meta Ads.

A homeowner seeing an advertisement was only the beginning.

The real process looked more like this:

Someone sees the advertisement.

They become interested enough to respond.

The lead is contacted.

The opportunity is qualified.

An appointment is scheduled.

The sales team gets an opportunity to present a solution.

That last part is where the advertising begins to create real value for the business.

More Than 110 Booked Appointments

Over the campaign period, approximately $10,000 was spent directly on advertising.

That produced more than 110 booked appointments for Wellspring Water Filtration of St. Louis.

That put direct advertising spend at less than $100 per booked appointment.

The distinction is important.

This is not being presented as a complete customer acquisition cost.

The number refers specifically to advertising spend divided by the number of appointments generated.

It does not include Hydro Demand’s management fees, Wellspring’s internal sales expenses, installation costs, or other operating expenses.

It is simply a way of answering a useful question:

How much advertising spend did it take to create an actual scheduled sales opportunity?

For this campaign, the answer was less than $100.

The Client’s Experience

For Wellspring, the value was not only in the number of appointments.

It was also in the quality of the opportunities reaching the company.

“It’s been really good working with you guys. The cost per appointment has been really good, the appointments have been solid, and it’s honestly been a game changer for me.”

That feedback is important because a marketing campaign can look strong on paper while producing very little value for the people actually working the leads.

A low cost per lead does not help much if homeowners do not answer.

High lead volume does not help much if most of those people are outside the service area.

And a full calendar does not help much if the appointments are consistently poor fits.

The quality of what reaches the sales team matters.

A 28% Close Rate Put the Numbers Into Context

The campaign also generated an approximately 28% close rate based on campaign tracking.

That gave Hydro Demand another important piece of information.

The opportunities were not simply being booked.

A meaningful percentage was progressing into customers.

For Aamer, this is why he prefers to look at marketing as an entire customer acquisition system rather than a lead generation campaign.

Cost per lead is one measurement.

Cost per appointment is another.

Show rate matters.

Close rate matters.

Average ticket matters.

Ultimately, customer acquisition cost and profitability matter.

No single number tells the entire story.

Why Water Treatment Advertising Is Different

Water treatment also presents a different marketing challenge than many emergency home services.

If a pipe bursts or an air conditioner stops working, the homeowner usually has an immediate reason to find somebody.

Water treatment problems can be easier to tolerate.

A homeowner may deal with hard water, mineral buildup, staining, unpleasant taste or smell, poor drinking water, or frustration with an existing treatment system for months before doing anything about it.

That means platforms such as Facebook and Instagram can play a different role.

Instead of only finding homeowners who are already searching for a water treatment company, advertising can introduce the problem and solution earlier in the buying process.

But that also means the message matters.

The wrong message can create a lot of curiosity without enough buying intent.

The right message can get the attention of homeowners who recognize the problem and are willing to have a conversation about solving it.

Hydro Demand focuses heavily on that relationship between creative and what happens after the lead comes in.

Cheap Leads Are Not Always Better Leads

This was another lesson reinforced by the Wellspring campaign.

Marketers naturally want to lower cost per lead.

There is nothing wrong with that.

The problem comes when the cheapest lead becomes the primary objective.

Imagine one campaign generating a large number of inexpensive leads, but very few of those homeowners schedule an appointment.

Another campaign may generate fewer leads at a higher initial cost but consistently produce booked opportunities.

From the dealer’s perspective, the second campaign can easily be more valuable.

That is why Hydro Demand evaluates advertising farther down the funnel.

The company looks at questions such as:

Were the leads reachable?

Were they inside the service area?

Did they actually have a relevant water treatment need?

Did they book?

Did they show?

Did the sales team close them?

Those answers provide much more information than cost per lead alone.

What This Case Study Does Not Mean

Aamer is careful not to present the Wellspring results as a guarantee or universal benchmark.

Every water treatment market is different.

Competition changes.

Advertising costs change.

Offers change.

Creative performance changes.

Homeowner demographics change.

The strength of the sales team changes.

A company should not assume that spending $10,000 in another city will automatically produce more than 110 appointments.

That is not the lesson.

The more useful lesson is that water treatment advertising can be evaluated against actual sales opportunities rather than only the number of leads generated.

For Wellspring Water Filtration of St. Louis, approximately $10,000 in direct media spend generated more than 110 booked appointments, with direct advertising spend remaining below $100 per appointment.

Campaign tracking also showed an approximately 28% close rate.

Those numbers gave the company a much clearer view of how the advertising was contributing to its growth.

Building a Customer Acquisition System

Hydro Demand’s broader philosophy is that paid advertising should not operate separately from the rest of the business.

Advertising creates attention.

Lead generation captures interest.

Follow-up creates a conversation.

Qualification determines whether the homeowner is a fit.

Appointment setting creates the opportunity.

The dealership’s sales process turns that opportunity into revenue.

When those pieces are connected, it becomes much easier to understand what is actually working.

“The point isn’t just to get the cheapest lead possible,” Aamer says. “What matters is whether we’re consistently putting real opportunities in front of the business and whether the numbers make sense all the way through.”

The Wellspring Water Filtration of St. Louis campaign gave Hydro Demand a clear example of that approach in practice.

More than 110 booked appointments.

Approximately $10,000 in direct advertising spend.

Less than $100 in direct ad spend per booked appointment.

And an approximately 28% close rate.

For Aamer, those are the numbers that make a marketing campaign worth paying attention to.
