There is a certain stillness Anna Rósa Parker brings into a conversation, the kind that makes an interview start to feel like an invitation to slow down. She talks about breath before she talks about business, about trust before she talks about targets, and it becomes clear within minutes why founders, executives, and artists alike have found their way to her work. Anna Rósa is the founder of EVOKE, a storytelling-based methodology built at the intersection of narrative, neuroscience, and heart intelligence, and for the better part of a decade she has been helping people rewrite the stories that quietly run their lives.
Anna Rósa’s path to founder was anything but linear. Born and raised in Iceland, she began her career as a competitive aerobics athlete and instructor before studying theatre and playwriting at the University of Washington. That early performance training led her from the stage into advertising and brand storytelling, where she spent years shaping the voice of premium hospitality, wellness, and fashion brands in New York, including Baccarat Hotel & Residences, 1 Hotels, and EleVen by Venus Williams. Each chapter added a new layer to her thinking about identity and expression, and eventually those layers converged into a single question: what happens when people stop performing a version of themselves and start operating from who they actually are?
That question became EVOKE. Originally created by actors, for actors, the methodology was designed to help performers work through identity, purpose, and reinvention. As word spread, the audience widened on its own.
Leaders and entrepreneurs began asking Anna Rósa whether the same tools could work in a boardroom, and that demand gave rise to EVOKE’s executive and team programs. Today the company, co-founded with her husband Shanga Parker, works with individuals and organizations from offices spanning New York City and Reykjavík, blending storytelling, neuroscience, and heart intelligence into what she describes as a map guiding people back to themselves.
A Leadership Style Rooted in Breath
Asked to describe her leadership style in her own words, Anna Rósa doesn’t reach for a single label. “Collaborative, intuitive, structured and creative at the same time,” she says. That blend shows up most clearly in how she handles pressure. When she senses friction in a room, whether a team training isn’t landing or a session has stalled, her instinct isn’t to push harder. It’s to pause. She turns to heart intelligence, one of EVOKE’s core tools, and simply breathes. In her experience, that pause is where the useful answers surface, the ones that come from an authentic place rather than panic. Time can feel painfully slow in a high-stakes moment, she admits, but she has learned to trust the breath over the urge to react.
That same instinct shapes how she talks about her own biggest strength. She points to creativity and to taking her own medicine, staying original and authentic in her own work rather than defaulting to formula. The area she’s actively developing, by her own account, is EVOKE itself. Much of her time now goes toward expanding the methodology while also honing it, a tension she describes as central to where the company sits today.
The Challenge of Niching an Idea That Fits Everyone
If there’s a business problem occupying Anna Rósa’s attention right now, it isn’t demand. It’s focus. EVOKE’s methodology was built for creatives and actors, then proved just as useful for executives and leadership teams, and Anna Rósa is candid that the underlying ideas could stretch even further, into schools, into support for women moving through life transitions like the empty-nest years, into nearly any setting where people are wrestling with identity. The opportunity, as she sees it, isn’t inventing new applications. It’s resisting the pull to chase all of them at once and instead holding EVOKE steady within its two core buckets, individual creatives and organizational leadership.
The Values That Anchor EVOKE’s Storytelling Work
EVOKE’s brand voice, as Anna Rósa and her team describe it, is thoughtful, inviting, premium, creative, and human, built around language like story, identity, authenticity, curiosity, courage, connection, and coming home to yourself. That vocabulary isn’t incidental. It reflects a company built by a husband-and-wife founding team with a shared background in theatre, where they first discovered storytelling’s transformative pull long before there was a business plan attached to it.
What She’s Most Proud Of
When asked what she’s most proud of building, Anna Rósa doesn’t point to a metric. She points to trust, specifically the discipline of holding certainty in the middle of uncertainty. Creating something from scratch means not knowing, at the outset, whether people will get on board, and she describes that as the real work of the past several years: continuing to trust that she’s on the right path, even without a clear timeline for how long it will take to fully build.
Advice for Aspiring Founders
Her advice to anyone with an idea they suspect could become a company is straightforward. Write it down before doing anything else. An idea sitting in the head can feel fully formed, she says, but putting it on paper forces a different, more honest reaction from the nervous system. Getting clear on who you are and what you actually want, in her view, has to come before anything else.
Outside of Work
Away from EVOKE, Anna Rósa is quick to describe herself as a family-first foodie. She’s part of a tight-knit family of eleven in New York, including a nephew and niece with young children of their own, and much of her free time is spent hosting brunch, eating well around the city, and, when she needs to reset, at the gym. Family, workout, food, she says, in that order of importance.
