Founded in the summer of 2022 by Shawn and Desiree’ Morgan, Glory Carrier’s Track Club has quickly become a beacon of hope and development for the youth of the Mid-South. With a mission to lead, guide, and motivate young athletes both on and off the track, the club aims to instill the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. By focusing on these principles, Glory Carrier’s Track Club is dedicated to helping its members become the best versions of themselves, guided by their motto from Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

The club specifically targets boys and girls aged 5-18, understanding the crucial need for structured, positive activities during the spring and summer months when youth are most vulnerable to getting into trouble. The founders recognized a gap in programs available for young people in the Mid-South and have taken significant steps to fill this void. By providing a supportive and disciplined environment, the club aims to keep children engaged in productive and healthy pursuits.

One of the standout features of Glory Carrier’s Track Club is its team of dedicated coaches. Many of these individuals have performed at professional or collegiate levels, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the table. However, their roles extend beyond just coaching; they also function as mentors and role models. Recognizing the challenges faced by many young people, particularly the decline of two-parent homes and the absence of fathers, the male coaches at Glory Carriers are committed to stepping in as positive male figures.

These coaches go above and beyond, following up with athletes at school, speaking with teachers, and even serving as substitute teachers. Their involvement in the lives of the athletes extends to attending school programs and events, demonstrating a deep commitment to their holistic development.

Since its inception, Glory Carrier’s Track Club has made impressive strides. The program has reached over two hundred children, and its athletes have achieved remarkable success on the track. Over the past two years, more than fifty athletes have qualified for the Junior Olympics, the club has won its district in Shelby Youth Sports, and several athletes have broken long-standing records in various events.

The club also prides itself on fostering scholar-athletes. Many of its members have excelled academically, earning places on the Principal’s List, Honor Roll, and in the National Honor Society. This emphasis on academic achievement is a testament to the club’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals.

As Glory Carrier’s Track Club gears up for its upcoming track season, it is currently accepting new members aged 5-18. Importantly, no prior experience is required to join. The club welcomes all youth who are eager to learn, grow, and excel both on the track and in life.

Glory Carrier’s Track Club is more than just a sports program. It is a nurturing community that empowers young people to achieve their full potential. Through the dedication of its founders, coaches, and the support of the community, the club continues to make a significant impact, shaping the leaders of tomorrow with strength and guidance rooted in their faith and commitment.
