Martavius D. Jones, a distinguished figure in the financial services sector since 1990, boasts a legacy deeply rooted in community leadership. His journey, marked by dedication and expertise, is underscored by licenses in securities and insurance obtained in 1994. Throughout his extensive career, Jones has been steadfast in providing investment advice and services to a diverse clientele, encompassing individuals, families, small businesses, owners, and retirement plans.  

Beyond his financial acumen, Jones plays a pivotal role in uplifting the community through his service to U.S. Government employees as a Chartered Federal Employee Benefits Consultant (SM). This unique role involves specialized training on the intricate aspects of retirement and other benefits offered to federal government employees. Jones goes above and beyond by offering individual consultations and reviews, along with conducting group seminars covering vital benefits such as CSRS, FERS, TSP, FEGLI, and more.  

Jones’ commitment to community welfare extends to his focus areas, including tailoring financial solutions for individual 401(k) plans for owner-only businesses and Form 1099 recipients (independent contractors). He provides guidance on life insurance, mutual funds, college savings plans, and oversees new and takeover retirement plans, including 401(k) rollovers.

Having grown up in Memphis, Jones graduated from Central High School in 1986 and earned a business degree from Howard University in 1990. He has one son, Jarred, and is a member of Cummings Street Missionary Baptist Church.  

Martavius Jones served as a member of the Memphis City Council in Tennessee, representing Super District 8 Position 3. He assumed office in 2016 and left office on January 1, 2024. Jones ran for re-election to the Memphis City Council in 2019, securing victory in the general election on October 3.  

Throughout his tenure, Jones has actively addressed critical issues, including advocating for Memphis’ financial stability, prioritizing the hiring of Memphians by companies receiving tax breaks, and championing balanced development across North Memphis, South Memphis, and Downtown.  

Moreover, he stands as a dedicated advocate for the vulnerable segments of the population, focusing on supporting youth and seniors. Jones also emphasizes the importance of addressing long-neglected areas within the city, advocating for improvements in infrastructure and environmental concerns.  

Jones is committed to fostering the growth of Memphis-based businesses, recognizing the importance of supporting local enterprises that contribute to the city’s economic vitality and employment opportunities.
