As a life insurance advisor, entrepreneur, mentor, author, and speaker, Rickson Dsouza leverages his wealth of experience to help transform careers. His framework suggests that success is often intentional, and he demonstrates that it is possible for individuals to create opportunity by taking ownership of their time and choices. Through Successio Academy, he guides advisors in building structured, purpose-driven practices, while through Successio Global, he advises high and ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs on legacy and succession planning.
Best described as a life insurance advisor to high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneur, and mentor, Rickson brings a unique blend of strategy, empathy, and lived experience to the industry, grounding every lesson in the discipline and resilience he has developed across business and endurance sports.
An Early Career in Life Insurance and Finance
Rickson began his career as a Life Insurance Advisor at 21. Seeing how families faced challenges after the loss of a loved one, he was motivated to be the person who brought hope and stability in such times. In the life insurance industry, Ricksonās focus was always to “show up with a check,” and that notion has influenced him ever since.
Long before his professional start, he was already an entrepreneur, choosing to carve his own path in his teenage years rather than pursuing a traditional career. This early independence shaped his belief that purpose, systems, and discipline, not just sales, are key to driving sustainable success.
Overcoming Personal Challenges
Though Rickson enjoyed the freedom of commission-based work, he soon faced burnout, financial losses, and significant health issues. When his father passed away, the emotional weight was almost too much for him. He looked inward and discovered that his lack of systems required him to reevaluate his approach to life and work.
He often says his greatest obstacles were internal: clarity, discipline, and consistency. These challenges led him to confront the truth about how he worked and what he valued. Following the philosophy shared by his coach, Dan Sullivan, “All progress comes from telling the truth to yourself and to others,” Rickson redefined his life around clarity, structure, and intentional decision-making.
Refocusing a Career Toward Transformation
Recognizing the importance of legacy and succession planning and the need for structure in his business, Rickson began redefining his approach to advisory practice. He adopted strategic coach frameworks, invested in mentorships, and reworked his personal practice on tenets of clarity and selectivity. Moving forward with “right-fit” clients, he shifted his career from transactional to transformational.
Rickson formalized these principles into the CONTROL System, Clarity, Ownership, Numbers, Tactics, Right-Fit Clients, an Obsession with Excellence, and Life Fulfillment, helping both himself and others redirect their careers. Today, Rickson operates like an entrepreneur in the field of Advisor Mentorship; he has built his practice as a team-based business rather than a solo career.
Established as an MDRT Premier Advisor
Because of his disciplined approach, Rickson qualified for his first Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in 2003. He is a 23-year MDRT member, a 19-year Court of the Table qualifier, and has achieved Top of the Table for 18 consecutive years since 2009.
Take CONTROL: A Framework for Growth
Building on his advisory experience, Rickson has authored Take CONTROL: The Financial Advisorās Guide to Exponential Income Growth, a guide to his personal framework. In conjunction with his leadership and advisor efforts, Take CONTROL aims to help individuals build businesses that honor their values, health, and families. Ultimately, Rickson hopes that his contributions through this book will assist other entrepreneurs and advisors in finding success.
Ambition for the Future
Rickson seeks to empower five million advisors worldwide through Successio Academy and his book. Though his mission is ambitious, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to create transformative change in those around him, whether established leaders or growing entrepreneurs. Relying on his CONTROL framework, Rickson is guiding others toward clarity, purpose, and success.
In the next 5 years, he also aims to place $3 billion of life insurance in force through Successio Global, a goal rooted not in revenue but in the impact such protection can deliver to families and future generations. His north star is simple: to be a hero to entrepreneurs and advisors who are heroes to others.
