From a young age, Adam Zahr has possessed a strong entrepreneurial savvy. At 16, he started his first business while attending elective football school—a small streetwear brand that would appeal to his fellow classmates. This humble venture ignited a love for business in Zahr that he couldn’t extinguish. Despite his success in football, he walked out of his exams knowing that his passions lay elsewhere. ā€œI always knew that business was what I wanted to pursue,ā€ Zahr says.Ā 

Learning from Experience

Recognising that passion alone wasn’t enough to start a successful business, Zahr sought out mentorship and opportunities to acquire valuable experience. At 18, he entered the space of the luxury men’s and women’s wear industry. An apprenticeship proved instrumental in shaping Zahr’s understanding of business fundamentals, paving the way for his success in future ventures.Ā 

Zahr’s foray into the luxury men’s and women’s wear industry exposed him to a world of high-profile clientele, including celebrities like Russell Crowe and Anderson Paak. He was involved in many luxury menswear brands, including hand-crafted menswear brand Joe Bananas. Despite the glamor, Zahr remained grounded, recognising the value of hard work and perseverance in achieving success.

Pivoting Amidst Challenges

The start of the COVID-19 pandemic brought unforeseen challenges, prompting Zahr to reassess his career trajectory. Armed with a newfound resilience and adaptability, he transitioned into the private education sector, identifying untapped potential in the Australian educational system.

Zahr’s innovative approach to education led to the creation of Certify Group,Ā  which includes an Australian Trade Agency focused on providing pathways for experienced tradespeople to obtain nationally recognised qualifications. Its success lies in its strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders. By forging strong alliances with trade associations, employers, and educational institutions, Certify Group ensures that its programs remain relevant, responsive, and aligned with industry standards. This collaborative approach enhances the quality of education and fosters a sense of community and shared purpose within the trade sector.
