Success often looks beautiful from the outside, but behind every achievement lies discipline, sacrifice, and moments that test everything you believe about yourself.

For Tatiana Escobar, CEO and owner of The Jaxon Hotel, stepping into the role of hotel owner and operator marked a profound evolution, not just professionally, but personally.

Becoming a Different Kind of Leader

Tatiana has always considered herself a patient person. But operating a boutique hotel reshaped her leadership in ways she never anticipated.

ā€œOwning and operating this project came with late nights, unpredictable hours, and an entirely new level of patience,ā€ she shares. ā€œMore than anything, it required trusting the process, even when the process felt overwhelming.ā€

Leadership, she learned, isn’t just about vision. It’s about endurance.

The Rewards That Make It Worth It

Despite the challenges, the rewards have been deeply fulfilling. Seeing a once-distressed property transformed into a welcoming hospitality experience, and watching guests enjoy it, has been one of the most meaningful outcomes of the journey.

ā€œEveryone deserves a nice place to stay when they travel,ā€ Tatiana says. ā€œProviding hospitality at a great value while helping change the neighborhood has been incredibly rewarding.ā€

For her, success is measured not just by numbers but by impact.

The Hardest Moments

The most difficult phase wasn’t construction or renovation, it was the uncertainty that followed.

ā€œThe growing pains were real,ā€ she explains. ā€œGoing from zero guests and worrying about income and profitability to suddenly operating at 90–100% occupancy every day was intense.ā€

That transition demanded fast decision-making, constant problem-solving, and the ability to adapt in real time, without a safety net.

Pain That Builds You Stronger

Tatiana never doubted her ability to succeed, but that didn’t mean the journey was easy.

ā€œThere were many scary nights and stressful moments that broke me,ā€ she admits. ā€œThat pain forced me to rebuild myself as a CEO on a completely different level.ā€

Faith played a crucial role. Trusting the process while facing the unknown, and pushing through the fear of ā€œwhat ifā€, became part of her daily reality.

What People Don’t See

From the outside, people see a beautifully designed boutique hotel. What they don’t see is the two years of relentless work that came before opening day.

ā€œThey don’t see the discipline, the late nights, the pressure, or the personal sacrifices,ā€ Tatiana says. ā€œThey see the beauty, but not the pain.ā€

Behind every detail is effort that never makes it to social media.

Carrying the Weight of Responsibility

Balancing pressure and responsibility requires both strength and support. Tatiana credits much of her resilience to having a strong partner by her side.

ā€œHaving hardcore support from my partner, knowing I wasn’t alone during the toughest moments, made a huge difference,ā€ she says. ā€œTrusting my intuition without hesitation has also been key.ā€

Leadership, she believes, is about standing firm even when the weight feels heavy.

Discipline Over Distraction

Tatiana’s mindset is rooted in discipline. Her days start early, often at 4:00 a.m., with focus and intention.

ā€œI make sure I’m the first one pushing through the process,ā€ she says. ā€œI avoid distractions. Some people see it as not being fun, but I see it as ambition.ā€

Coming from nothing shaped her urgency. There’s no room for complacency when you’re building something bigger than yourself.

Advice for Women and Entrepreneurs

For those walking a similar path, Tatiana offers simple but powerful advice:

ā€œPut your dreams on a vision board. Write them down. Push through the negative voices that come with wanting more.ā€

And perhaps most importantly:

ā€œDo it quietly.ā€

Because real success isn’t loud, it’s built in the moments no one is watching.
