Founded by Khalouk Shahbander, the Silicon Valley Learning Lab (SVLL) fosters an innovative learning environment through the implementation of technology into existing educational functions. Centered around legacy, SVLL intends to leave a lasting impact on students across the nation – dedicating its work to breaking social and economic barriers that often inhibit accessibility to the wider student population.
Khalouk’s vision for the enterprise is reflected through the transformative educational experiences SVLL seeks to offer; uplifting students through gamification and active learning initiatives. As a new player in the contemporary Ed-Tech space, Khalouk recognizes the limitless potential that exists within the intersection between modern technology and traditional education. Bridging this gap, the SVLL enterprise continues to develop valuable resources and exclusive educational platforms such as LSAT Reader and JD Insider. Both platforms are designed for consulting and personal tutoring services; aiding students as they apply to law schools and progress through the mandatory examination process.
Also developed by Silicon Valley Learning Lab, the Edu-Aid Navigator platform connects students with grants and financial aid opportunities that may otherwise be unaware of. Khalouk Shahbander prioritizes the enhancement of accessibility amongst students of low-income backgrounds and with disabilities – outlining that: “Education is the most powerful self-development tool in society. We have the opportunity to make a significant impact while ensuring all students are accounted for in the process – this way, nobody gets left behind while technology and education continue to move forward.”
Partnering with schools and colleges, Silicon Valley Learning Lab offers an array of supplementary resources for students approaching their higher education. Specifically, the learning lab works closely with Arizona State University to remain at the forefront of development in the contemporary Ed-Tech landscape. Also in partnership with another institution, SVLL encourages participants into the Innovation Internship Program, providing individuals with real-life learning experiences through internship opportunities. Khalouk comments: “We are particularly interested in the psychology behind learning, using technology to enhance educational possibilities. Our focus is to grow with society, as it shifts towards a more tech-focused direction.”
With the introduction of augmented reality and virtual reality systems, Khalouk and his team explore immersive ways of teaching and learning. In particular, they seek to develop personalized, game-based tools that transcend the confinements of the classroom and diversify methods of teaching and learning.
