Rafat is a visionary for social change, dedicating her efforts to uplifting leaders in underserved American communities. She shares her experiences as a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), obtaining undergraduate and master’s qualifications from the five-year MBA program. Notably, she completed internships at Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline, where she established a driving motivation to pursue a career that had meaningful impacts on communities with historically limited access to healthcare.
According to the National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report, access to healthcare is a privilege, measured by “the timely use of personal health services to achieve the best health outcomes.” Rafat addresses inequity in this space and the increasing gap between medical services and social outreach by reflecting on her own experiences as a young African-American in a family of traditionally blue-collar workers. Firsthand, Rafat saw the impacts of the unbalanced healthcare system of the United States, commenting: “I know the people I’m fighting for, not just because I sympathize with them but because I represent them. Issues of medical inaccessibility touch my own family as deeply as anyone else. This empowers me to make a long-standing impact.”

As an experienced professional working on the front line of the healthcare industry, Rafat describes the motivations that remain at the heart of her entrepreneurial pursuits: “Despite my experience with executives at some of the largest players in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, I felt the most satisfaction when working with those at the grass-roots level. I thrived most in areas that brought me closest to the patients and providers I came into contact with, gaining an elevated level of appreciation for the unsung heroes that work on the ground throughout our communities.”
