Kamola Mir’s journey in maternal healthcare began with her experience as a mother and as an OB-GYN nurse in hospital delivery rooms. Witnessing both the vulnerabilities of childbirth and the lack of patient control, she realized how deeply the system left women sidelined in life-defining moments. “I experienced firsthand how much we trust the system, often without the tools to make informed decisions. I wanted to change that—for myself and every other mother,” Kamola shares.

From Concept to Reality

Kamola’s dedication earned her the 2024 Global Recognition Award for excellence in the MedTech sector. Her device puts vital health information directly into mothers’ hands, enabling them to monitor and understand their data throughout pregnancy and labor. The technology achieves 0.5mm accuracy, surpassing current standards by a factor of twenty, and continues to receive strong support from healthcare professionals and families.

The development is undergoing rigorous research and pre-clinical testing, including studies on sheep reproductive systems to refine accuracy and functionality. Organizations like the Southern California Biomedical Council and the Hoag Women’s Health Institute have supported the project. Despite being in progress, the device’s potential has already been recognized at the Stanford Innovators Forum, JP Morgan’s 2nd Women’s Health Pitch Competition (finalist), and other reputable events in the industry.

Addressing Critical Needs

Beyond clinical advancements, Lidavex focuses on the underserved—rural areas and low-resource communities—by addressing infection control and providing remote monitoring capabilities.

“Mothers should not have to rely solely on their doctor’s word,” Kamola says. “They should have data they can trust that empowers them to have the possible birth experience.” This focus has drawn international attention, with growing interest from APAC, MENA, Australia, Canada, and the UK.

Building a Global Impact

Kamola continues to expand her influence through upcoming partnerships with major health institutions and the potential adoption of Lidavex in diverse clinical settings. “There is still so much to be done,” she says. “Every mother, everywhere, deserves the care we can give, and I will not stop until that is the reality.”

The potential impact of Kamola’s work extends beyond individual delivery rooms. Her contributions to maternal healthcare aim to establish new medical device accuracy and patient empowerment standards. As healthcare systems worldwide seek solutions to improve maternal care, Kamola’s dedication to combining technical excellence with patient dignity continues to improve childbirth experiences everywhere.
