Chicky Johnson became one of the youngest licensed realtors in Lake County, Illinois, back in 1987. She was just sixteen when she started working as a real estate secretary, learning the business from the ground up before most people her age had even thought about a career. It did not take long for her to make a name for herself. Top brokerages came calling, but she chose to dedicate her career four years later to REMAX, where she has remained ever since. That decision, made early on, shaped the course for everything that followed.
No Team, No Handoffs, Just Personal Service
Thirty-nine years later, Chicky is still doing the work the same way she always has. No private secretary. No team. Just her, one-on-one, giving her full attention and expertise to every client who hires her. In an industry where clients are often passed between assistants, coordinators, and junior agents, this approach is increasingly rare. With Chicky, there is no handoff. She is the one answering the phone, walking through the house, and guiding clients through each step of the process.
“People hire me, and they get all of my attention and expertise one-on-one,” she explained. “I design my own staging plans and stage my own listings, and supply my clients with additional levels of service by connecting them with trusted professionals within my own network.”
Meeting Clients Where They Are

Most of the people who come to Chicky are overwhelmed. Whether buying or selling, they arrive with fragmented information, unrealistic timelines, and very little understanding of what the process actually involves. Some have done their own research online and come in with expectations that do not match reality. Others are simply unsure where to begin. Chicky has seen it hundreds of times over the years, and her response is always the same: patience and education.
“My patience in educating them and providing them with a thorough consultation in the beginning builds trust and understanding that eases their frustrations and helps them navigate the process,” she said.
That early investment in conversation and clarity has often made all the difference. By the time clients move forward, they have a clearer understanding of what they are doing and why. They feel prepared rather than rushed. And they know exactly who is handling their transaction from start to finish.
Recognition Built on Consistency
That trust has been built over decades of steady, reliable work. Chicky is a REMAX Hall of Fame member and has earned the Lifetime Achievement award. She was recently recognized as ranking 36th out of the top 100 producers for 2026 in the Northern Illinois Region. She has also been awarded the Platinum Sales Award for her consistent production at that level year after year. These are long-term accomplishments. They reflect a career shaped by showing up and delivering results, time and again, for clients who rely on her.
A Changing Industry, An Unchanged Approach

In early 2026, REMAX announced what it described as the largest conversion in its history, adding more than 1,200 agents to its global network. The company also unveiled a digital-first logo refresh in 2025, signaling its continued evolution in a shifting market. The real estate industry is always changing, always expanding, always adapting to new tools and new expectations. But Chicky’s approach remains the same. She consistently shows up for her clients, does the work herself, and earns their trust the way she always has.
There are no shortcuts in how she operates. No delegation to people her clients have never met. No flashy marketing claims that may not meet expectations once the paperwork begins. Just decades of experience, a deep network of trusted professionals, and a commitment to being present for every client, every time.
After 35 years with REMAX, Chicky Johnson has built something that cannot be manufactured overnight. It is the kind of reputation that is often the result of consistency, from doing the work, and from caring enough to stay personally involved. For clients in Lake County and beyond, that kind of dedication still matters. And Chicky is still delivering it, one transaction at a time.
