In a market saturated with skincare brands, Good Condition stands out not only for its commitment to luxury and quality but also for its unwavering dedication to sustainability. Founded by Cherie Baughn in June 2023, Good Condition has quickly garnered attention for its eco-luxe skincare products that marry elegance with environmental responsibility. CEO Weekly sat down with Cherie to discuss her journey, the brand’s mission, and what sets Good Condition apart in the competitive skincare world.
Cherie Baughn, a former usability and accessibility expert, ventured into the skincare industry with a clear vision: to create high-end products that do not compromise the health of the planet. Her journey began with a passion for good design and a desire to make a positive impact. Today, Good Condition is celebrated for its meticulously crafted skincare products that prioritize both luxury and sustainability.
“From the very beginning, I wanted to create a brand that reflected my values and addressed a real need in the market,” Cherie explains. “Good Condition is about proving that you don’t have to choose between high-quality skincare and environmental responsibility. You can have both.”
Good Condition’s products are distinguished by their use of USDA-certified organic ingredients, ensuring they are free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. This commitment to purity and safety is central to the brand’s philosophy. Additionally, each product is handmade in small batches, emphasizing meticulous attention to detail and quality.
A defining feature of Good Condition is its innovative packaging. Eschewing traditional plastic containers, the brand uses biodegradable, compostable, and 100% recyclable paper holders for their lotion bars. This approach significantly reduces plastic waste and aligns with the brand’s mission to create environmentally friendly products.
Good Condition’s product line includes a variety of body and face moisturizers designed to cater to different skin types and preferences. Their body moisturizers include The Plain, a fragrance-free option for sensitive skin; The Standard, infused with plum kernel oil and coconut essential oil fragrance; The Luxe, made with natural, unrefined cocoa butter; and The Repair, which combines French lavender and vanilla for soothing skin repair. For facial care, The Day Glow and The Night Recovery offer daily nourishment and gentle nighttime skin renewal, respectively.
Q: What inspired you to start Good Condition?
Cherie: “I’ve always been passionate about good design and sustainability. When I realized that the skincare market was lacking products that truly embodied these values, I saw an opportunity. I wanted to create a brand that offered luxurious, high-quality skincare without compromising the environment. That’s how Good Condition was born.”
Q: How do you ensure the quality and sustainability of your products?
Cherie: “Quality and sustainability are at the core of everything we do. We use USDA-certified organic ingredients, which means our products are free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. Each item is handmade in small batches to ensure meticulous attention to detail. Our packaging is also a key component of our sustainability efforts. We use biodegradable, compostable, and recyclable materials to minimize our environmental impact.”
Q: What challenges have you faced in bringing Good Condition to market?
Cherie: “One of the biggest challenges has been educating consumers about the importance of sustainability in skincare. Many people are used to traditional products and packaging, so it takes time to change perceptions. However, we’ve received a lot of positive feedback, and it’s encouraging to see more and more people embracing eco-luxe skincare.”
Q: What’s next for Good Condition?
Cherie: “We’re constantly looking for ways to innovate and expand our product line. We recently introduced limited-release seasonal moisturizers with fragrances like Fresh Mango and Sweet Pea. Looking ahead, we plan to launch a new line of specialty facial treatments by spring. A portion of the proceeds from these will be donated to reef conservation efforts, a cause that’s very close to my heart.”
Q: How do you see the future of sustainable skincare evolving?
Cherie: “I believe sustainable skincare is the future. Consumers are becoming more conscious of the environmental impact of their purchases, and they’re seeking out brands that align with their values. At Good Condition, we’re committed to leading the way by proving that luxury and sustainability can coexist beautifully.”
