Qi Gong Master Lee Holden shares a healing framework to recognize imbalances in your body, mind, emotions, and spirit—and ultimately, heal them. With the Five Elements Online Course, you’ll learn ancient Qi Gong secrets to awaken your body’s innate healing abilities.

Take a moment and pay attention to how you’re breathing. Are your shoulders tense and up to your ears? Is your breath coming out in short bursts? You’ve likely heard of the benefits of breathing techniques for stress and anxiety relief, especially when it comes to hyperventilation, but what about its healing abilities? Try it now: close your eyes and breathe in slowly through your nose and slowly out through your mouth. When you focus on your body’s function, like breathing, you notice how everything is connected, or the possible presence of an imbalance.

In our daily lives, the act of bringing oxygen to the lungs is rarely given attention—after all, it’s part of living. But what if I told you your breath can be used as a tool for personal transformation?

Working with your breath is one of the foundational exercises of Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese practice that improves the energy life force of individuals by activating dormant energy through breathing, meditating, and exercising techniques.

“Qi Gong can release stress and bring relaxation back to your body by helping you ‘rest and digest’. You can do this by taking a 5-second inhale and a 5-second exhale 3–4 times consecutively. By doing this, you can see your nervous system shift out of stress,” says Qi Gong Master Lee Holden. With over 35 years of experience, Holden has made it his mission to spread awareness for the holistic benefits of Qi Gong, the “ancient antidote for modern stress”. With his guidance, more than 50,000 students have learned to embrace the present moment, quiet the chatter of their minds, and rediscover the joy of simply being.

The question remains, how can you reach this state?

Holden offers The Five Elements Online Course designed to teach individuals the healing secrets of Qi Gong, or in other words, a grounded healing framework for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Five Element theory is a “framework for the body’s natural healing process.

“It is based on the belief that everything that appears in the physical realm is always connected with energy flow at the invisible level,” Holden shares.

The course consists of lifetime access to 30 hours of video instruction divided into eight self-paced video modules and journal prompts to turn the “theory into practice” with gentle, easy-to-follow Qi Gong routines.

The Five Elements “addresses both mind and body. It helps us to transform negative emotional energies. It helps us to understand that everything is connected,” Holden discusses. “In the West, everything seems separate. If you have a problem with your body, you might first see your primary care doctor, and then they refer you to a specialist, and you might be having headaches. So the headache specialist is going to give you some kind of narcotic, but they’re not asking how well are you sleeping? What level is your stress at? How are your relationships?”

Chinese medicine pays close attention to all of those connections, external and internal, and The Five Elements allows individuals to look at life through this lens of interconnectedness between the body, other people, and the environment. Asking questions like “How are our emotions related to our physical health?” or “How is the state of our mind related to the state of our bodies?” opens up new doors for a balance of the body, mind, emotions, and spirit.

The Five Elements are a reflection of your own internal energy in relationship to nature. They include:

  • Fire
  • Water
  • Metal
  • Wood
  • Earth

“Nothing in your body can be isolated from the rest of your body. All your organs have a physical function and an energetic function. Each function relates to one of the Five Elements,” the website states.

“Think of the five elements as a map that describes the territory of who you are. And we can use this map to lead healthier, more vibrant, happier, and more fulfilling lives,” says Holden. Each of the elements relates to a part of the body: Fire focuses on the heart, specifically the cardiovascular system, Water focuses on the kidneys, specifically the lower back, Metal focuses on the lunges, specifically breathing, Wood focuses on longevity, specifically adding life to your years, and Earth focuses on digestion.

By incorporating The Five Element healing framework, you can become “Qi fit”, which Holden explains as “being the full fitness of your mind, your emotions, and your body, because everything is connected.”
