Cubicle to CEO’s Founder Ellen Yin and How She Bootstrapped Her Business from A $300 Project to a Seven-Figure Business Within Three Years

As a skilled entrepreneur and resourceful marketer, Ellen Yin has shed light on the power of marketing minimalism through her digital media platform, Cubicle to CEO™, educating others on how she grew her business from a $300 client project to a seven-figure revenue business within three years.

The 27 year old is showing thousands of coaches and service providers the ropes to scale their businesses and replicate the type of success she has achieved in the business world. With her passion for mentoring others, she created Cubicle to CEO™, an online membership helping coaches, service providers and creatives make their first $10,000 revenue month from one-on-one clients, without a large following or posting every day. Ellen teaches marketing strategies that contrast the “hustle” mentality often touted by others in the industry, but they have proven to be just as effective in the results she has achieved with many of her students.

“I feel like my dream students are a past version of myself—I know what it’s like to be in their position, and I want to pass on what I’ve learned. I firmly believe there is no shortcut to success, but with the right mentorship from someone who has walked the path you want to walk and reached the destination you aspire to reach, you can shortcut many mistakes,” she said.

Through her online programs and marketing services, Ellen Yin has mentored over 9,000 entrepreneurs and has worked on branded content campaigns with Fortune 500 clients. Used to forging her own path, the Chengdu, China-born and American-raised entrepreneur has become a well-respected name in the online marketing niche. The bulk of her passion for marketing can be traced back to her love for storytelling. A fond part of her childhood was spent participating in writing contests as well as later taking journalism classes in college.

“Listening to other people’s stories is such a powerful thing as it allows us to engage in lived experiences outside of our own. It gives us a new perspective on what’s possible, which is why marketing was a natural career for me to pursue. I just think of marketing as a version of storytelling where you’re leading the customer on a journey from where they are to where they want to go,” Ellen explained.

From her love for storytelling, she launched an award-winning business podcast called Cubicle to CEO™, which has gained her recognition from celebrated media publications like Forbes, Thrive Global, HerMoney, Real Simple, Databird Business Journal, and BlogHer, to name just a few. She was also previously featured on the Today Show with Hoda & Jenna in a segment on work-from-home life during the pandemic. Beyond mainstream media, the Cubicle to CEO™ Podcast has been listened to in more than one hundred countries worldwide. Ellen Yin’s journey from working in a cubicle and quitting her corporate job without a backup plan at age 23 to growing her self-funded business to over $1.3 million dollars in revenue as a first-generation Asian American entrepreneur is something that inspires many all over the world.

Her post-grad career started with her working at a fitness startup to then becoming the youngest marketing coordinator at a corporate healthcare company. After leaving her corporate career, she landed her first freelance client a month into her job search, and that initial $300 project is what kickstarted her current journey as an entrepreneur.

Looking toward the future, Ellen Yin’s vision is to evolve Cubicle to CEO™ into the number one online destination for female entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds seeking accessible education, mentorship, social capital, and community support. With a current community of female entrepreneurs totaling about 50,000, Ellen’s dream is to one day impact millions of people worldwide.
