Success in the construction industry demands leadership, managerial skills and technical expertise. One industry professional has proved capable of all these and more: Uchenna Macfitz Ugo-Alum, PMP, DBIA. His projects combine design innovation with a passion for art and community. 

Since entering the construction industry, Mr. Ugo-Alum has built a diverse portfolio of successful projects, earning him such accolades as inclusion in the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who listing of noteworthy professionals. With his social productivity app, Goollooper, he plans to expand his outreach to those in his community and beyond.

How Mr. Ugo-Alum Developed His Expertise

Mr. Ugo-Alum began his academic journey by pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering focusing on electrical and electronics engineering at The City College of New York, a public university in New York City. After completing this degree, he returned to school, earning a Master of Science in project management and financial concepts from Boston University in 2013. These degrees provided him with technical and managerial expertise, which would aid him in his success in the construction industry.

Utilizing his academic background in electronics engineering, Mr. Ugo-Alum began his electricity grid work career, providing home transmission and distribution. From 2007 to 2008, he worked as an engineering analyst for Con Edison. 

Work in the Construction Industry

In 2009, Mr. Ugo-Alum went in a new career direction, becoming a Judlau Contracting Inc/TC Electric project engineer. Discovering his ability to apply his technical expertise and managerial skills, he progressed into the project manager position in 2011. In 2015, he became senior project manager at TC Electric LLC, a position he holds today.

Mr. Ugo-Alum has built a diverse portfolio of projects within the construction industry. These projects range from significant endeavors spanning years to smaller, simpler ones. One memorable project in which he takes pride drew a crowd upon its completion, flocking to take pictures of the remarkable craftsmanship.

Mr. Ugo-Alum’s Outreach Through Goollooper

Another notable achievement of Mr. Ugo-Alum is his founding of Goollooper. Goollooper is a social productivity app designed to streamline scheduling and hiring processes while offering opportunities for lead cultivation. Its inception resulted from the expertise and insights he accumulated throughout his career. 

“The Goollooper is an innovation that is drawn from my experience, all the pain points, all the benefits of having been in the construction industry this long and having done several multimillion-dollar construction jobs, dealing with all the supply chains, with vendors and with the material and schedule requirements,” Mr. Ugo-Alum states. 

Mr. Ugo-Alum additionally believes that the app addresses the missing social element in the construction process. “One of the things that have been missing is providing services that are well connected to communion in society in any community,” he adds.

Mr. Ugo-Alum’s Passions and Career Plans

Mr. Ugo-Alum credits his deep-seated passion for creativity and the arts for his career success, which he applies to his projects. As a senior project manager, he thrives on the idea that his creative input can significantly improve the lives of others.

In the next five to 10 years, Mr. Ugo-Alum plans to continue his journey in the construction industry, where he strives to deepen his engagement while showcasing his innovative spirit. Pursuing personal and career growth, he is determined to expand Goollooper into a thriving enterprise that reflects his unique vision and commitment to excellence. 

As Mr. Ugo-Alum achieves further career milestones, including his inclusion in the Marquis Who’s Who, he will continue building projects combining innovation with art and community.
