Combined awareness and fundraising in the fight against malignant brain tumors have never been more critical. Despite massive advances in recent years, many forms of brain cancer still present a significant challenge in medicine. That’s according to awareness advocate and cancer research fundraiser Barry Snyder.
Snyder is an esteemed CEO from Palm Beach County, Florida. The philanthropic businessman sadly lost his beloved wife, Zoraida, to glioblastoma, a fast-growing form of malignant brain tumor, in 2023. Since then, he and his family have dedicated themselves to all-important fundraising and cancer awareness in much-loved Zoraida’s honor.
That includes raising over $100,000 for Duke University’s Angels Among Us program. The following is a closer look at the importance of raising funds and awareness for brain tumor research in 2024 and beyond, courtesy of the Boca Raton-based CEO and father-of-six.
Understanding Brain Tumor Research
As medicine’s understanding of brain tumors improves, it’s impossible to overstate the importance of increasing research and funding. Biological, environmental, and genetic factors all play a part in brain tumor development. With that, doctors and researchers must take a robust and comprehensive approach to studying and treating malignant tumors.
Of course, such approaches require significant and ongoing funding. Accordingly, brain cancer awareness advocate Barry Snyder is keen to stress how crucial community engagement and fundraising innovations are in fighting the disease. The result ensures momentum in research, allowing treatment advancements to continue.
Furthermore, the current landscape of brain tumor research demonstrates an ever-pressing need for continued studies and the funding required for them to happen.
The Importance of Fundraising
Aided by awareness, fundraising-backed research remains paramount in understanding tumor behavior, improving diagnostic techniques, developing breakthrough treatments, and more. The ultimate goal, Snyder reports, is to improve patient survival rates and quality of life by pursuing knowledge across all facets of the cancer field.
Awareness and funding are two of the main pillars of glioblastoma and other forms of cancer research. Without public awareness of the challenges associated with funding and exploration, securing the necessary medical advancements remains a formidable challenge.
The philanthropic Palm Beach County-based CEO believes that increasing awareness and drawing much-needed public and private funding into the field is essential. Doctors and researchers can then push the boundaries of what’s possible in terms of both brain tumor understanding and the necessary treatments for these and other cancers like never before.
Cancer Fundraiser: Barry Snyder
Barry Snyder remains dedicated to honoring his late wife and the mother of his two children by continuing her legacy through tireless brain tumor awareness and cancer research funding. He and his family are now wholly committed to campaigning for awareness and helping to find a cure for the disease in her name.
The six-figure sum raised by the Snyder family alongside Angels Among Us has already directly contributed toward research supporting new therapies. Elsewhere, the family is working to establish the Zoraida Snyder Center for Glioblastoma Research at Duke University’s Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center dedicated to their ‘Wonder Woman’ wife and mom.
