Now more than ever, trends dominate the home design market, influencing consumers to indulge in off-the-shelf offerings instead of formulating custom artisanal creations. While minimalism and other aesthetics are valuable additions to many spaces, these commoditized designs lack depth and sophistication. For Christophe Michaels, the Founder and CEO of Sforzando Coating and Design, the landscape of floor design has desperately needed innovation for many years. It wasn’t Christophe’s plan to lead this change, but his distinct eye for style and dedication to creating long-lasting investments have made him a prominent figure in the Texas home design realm.Ā
Christophe’s path to disrupting the floor design industry wasn’t written in the stars. It was a natural progression in his exploration of visual arts and music. As an autistic person, Christophe saw the world differently. His perspective on sound, light, and even color is seemingly intensified due to his unique outlook. Autistic individuals are prolific creatives thanks to their strong attention to detail and unconventional thinking processes. Christophe has exhibited many of these traits since he was young, often finding it easier to communicate through art than words.Ā
When he was an adolescent, Christophe began investing more time in art, particularly drawing. His mother supported these pursuits, purchasing a drawing pad for him once he declared he ‘was an artist’ and became deeply enthralled in the idea of creating things. Christophe was also heavily involved in music through his school and developed a stronger passion for the creative arts. Meeting Andy Warhol’s photographer and close friend, Peter Beard, by chance several years later was another catalyst pushing him to keep cultivating his artistic knowledge.Ā

Christophe attended college on a full scholarship, studying classical music and visual arts. After several years of freelance design work, a career in truck driving, and the release of courses teaching these individuals how to become business owners, Christophe returned to design, launching Sforzando Coating and Design, hoping to set a new standard for artistic flooring.Ā
Named after the suddenly emphasized note in classical compositions, Christophe’s business was born from a vision to create one-of-a-kind floors that inspired and awed all who saw them. Shortly after establishing Sforzando Coating and Design, Christophe created the Magnum Opus Floor System, a proprietary practice of utilizing 24k gold inlays in the company’s designs. This bold step to reflect high standards of craftsmanship enabled Christophe to reflect the individuality of his clients and produce art that elevates the value of a home.Ā
“I’ve always been drawn to finding solutions and striving for artistic excellence,” Christophe says. “Through Sforzando Coating and Design, I’ve used these strengths to build a team dedicated to using premium materials to strike a balance between monetary value and visual appeal. Our team’s innovative and client-centric approach results in exquisite designs that turn a home into a masterpiece.”
Christophe’s goal is to redefine luxury home design, ushering in a new era marked by personalized opulence. As this visionary leader continues to translate the abstract into tangible luxury, he is poised to inspire countless individuals.
