With a remarkable background in cybersecurity, military service, and academia, Mobley has emerged as a highly accomplished individual with a transformative influence in the industry.

Born and raised in the Belmont Community of Charlotte, NC, Jaylan Mobley’s journey toward leadership and service began at an early age. A standout student at West Charlotte Senior High School, he served as the Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) Battalion Commander, distinguishing himself as the number one cadet.

Following his graduation, Mobley’s commitment to excellence led him to the United States Military Academy at West Point – Preparatory School. From there, he earned a full-ride scholarship to Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Georgia, where he graduated with two associate degrees in Computer Science and Homeland Security & Emergency Management. As GMC’s number one cadet and Regimental Commander, Mobley demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, overseeing over 10,000 students and cadets across six campuses in Georgia. He was awarded the Excellence in Leadership award by Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell IV.

Jaylan Mobley’s pursuit of excellence continued as he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Signal Officer in the West Virginia Army National Guard. He furthered his studies at West Virginia University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, with a minor in Cybersecurity. During this time, he obtained a certification in Certified Ethical Hacking and served as a Cyber Intern at the NASA IV&V Facility, where he had the privilege of working with notable astronauts, NASA engineers, and even meeting the 13th NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine.

In 2020, Mobley graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Cybersecurity. He became the FIRST Cyber Officer in the West Virginia Army National Guard after completing the 37-week Cyber Basic Officer Leadership Course. Mobley’s thirst for knowledge led him to earn a Master’s degree in Cybersecurity Management from West Virginia University in 2021. Throughout this time, he served as the Deputy Team Chief of the Defense Cyber Operations Element at the Joint Forces Headquarters in Charleston, West Virginia.

Recognizing Mobley’s expertise and accomplishments, he was selected as a Marshall University FIRST West Virginia National Guard fellow in 2022. Currently, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at Marshall University in the Institute for Cyber Security (ICS) program. Mobley imparts his knowledge through various courses, equipping students with the necessary tools and techniques to defend IoT and ICS systems critical to the Power Grid and other vital systems.

Beyond his military achievements, Jaylan Mobley is known for his deep commitment to giving back to the community. Actively participating in mentorship programs, he generously shares his knowledge and experiences with aspiring entrepreneurs. Mobley regularly volunteers at local schools and colleges, inspiring students to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to something larger than themselves.
