She is the founder of the Monarch Society and Council at the Desert Botanical Garden, which established a membership and leadership group to integrate age diversification within the garden during her tenure as a Trustee. She currently serves as Chair of the Western States Arts Federation (WESTAF), past chair of their Equity and Inclusion (EIC) Committee, and a member of the Desert Botanical Garden Foundation board, plus a member of the LISC Phoenix Local Advisory Committee (LAC) and ASU Council for Resilience Leaders. She is a past Chair and Commissioner for the City of Phoenix’s Arts & Culture Commission.

Teniqua has her master’s degree in education with a focus on Educational Administration and Supervision, and her bachelor’s degree in educational psychology, with an emphasis on theater for youth. With certifications as a Certified Nonprofit Accounting Professional (CNAP), in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Arizona and Boston College, and in Equity and Inclusion from Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, she is well-equipped to help organizations achieve their goals.

Teniqua’s journey to becoming a business leader was not without its challenges. As a young leader, she faced adversity in the form of ageism and was told to wait her turn. However, she remained steadfast in her commitment to making things happen and stayed true to her calling. She started her own company, VerveSimone Consulting, to navigate the narrative of her story and to fulfill her purpose of serving others and changing lives through the relationships that she has built and in the ways that she gives back to her community.
