Guy de Boo has spent more than 30 years in the wellness profession. He traces his approach to leadership back much further than that.
From Belgium to Africa to the cockpit
Guy was born in Belgium and grew up in Africa. As a teenager, he lived through war. That experience shaped how he thinks about pressure, uncertainty, and what people need from the person standing in front of them when conditions get hard.
He went on to train as an aerospace and aeronautics engineer and served as an Air Force pilot, where he received several awards. Aviation gave him a working model of leadership that he still uses. A pilot runs the checklist, accepts responsibility for the outcome, and keeps a steady voice when the situation changes.
Starting over in America
Guy later came to America and started over. He built his career without a network to inherit or a shortcut to take. He describes the years that followed as a long run of challenges he refused to quit on. That persistence became the center of his leadership style.
Today he is based in Clearwater, Florida, where he calls himself Your 007 Wellness Agent. He works with the Juice Plus+ company at guydeboo.juiceplus.com and has received the PMD+ recognition and a Founder member award. He has also been named Rotarian of the Year for his service work.
Leading by example, not by instruction
Guy keeps his leadership philosophy simple. He does the thing first, then invites others to come along.

He believes people learn more from watching how a leader handles a setback than from hearing a leader explain how setbacks should be handled. That puts the burden on the leader to stay consistent when nobody is keeping score.
Choosing work that has no template
Guy also pushes himself and his team toward work that has not been organized before. He thinks original work builds capability faster than repeating a familiar process.
The risk of failing is part of the appeal. In his view, a leader who will not risk failure quietly teaches everyone around them to avoid it too.
Optimism as a discipline

Staying positive is the other piece. He treats optimism as a discipline rather than a mood. He sees it as something a leader maintains on purpose, especially on the days it would be easier to drop.
How he measures success
He is direct about what he is building toward. He wants to be a beam of light for other people through what he has lived through.
He measures success well beyond financial performance. For Guy, the real measure is legacy. He asks whether the people he has worked with are more capable, more confident, and more willing to lead on their own than they were before.
He also looks at service. His Rotary involvement sits alongside his professional work rather than separate from it. That standard raises the bar on everyday decisions. A result that looks good this quarter is worth less to him than a person who is still standing on their own years later.
A leadership record built over decades
Guy’s path moved through engineering, military aviation, immigration, and three decades in wellness. The common thread is a willingness to start from zero and keep going.
He says he is glad to answer further questions from anyone looking to learn from his experience. For him, leadership is less about position and more about what a person leaves behind.
