Brands face a constant challenge in the modern market: standing out. Attention spans are short. Companies need video content that builds trust and clearly communicates their core message. High-quality video is no longer an optional upgrade; it is a strict business requirement. However, finding a production team that balances top-tier quality with fast turnarounds and flexible budgets is difficult.
Ox Productions provides a reliable answer. Recently named the 2026 Telly Production Company of the Year, this Pittsburgh-based studio combines full-scale production power with a highly personalized approach. We spoke with Founder and Creative Director Tim Oxenreiter to discuss his journey from a 12-year-old hobbyist to leading a nationally recognized company, and to learn what makes his production process so effective.
You started making videos at just 12 years old, and now Ox Productions is the 2026 Telly Production Company of the Year. How does it feel to see that childhood passion reach this level of global recognition?
Tim Oxenreiter: The feeling is honestly hard to put into words. I’m extremely grateful to be able to live out my childhood dream. Receiving an honor of this magnitude is the cherry on top, and it’s something I don’t take for granted.
You often describe Ox Productions as having the capabilities of a full-scale studio but the personal attention of a boutique team. How do you maintain that specific balance as you take on larger national clients?
Tim Oxenreiter: At the end of the day, we try to strip every project down to the studs and simplify the process. Whether we’re creating content for a small nonprofit or a Fortune 500 company, it all comes back to the fundamentals of telling a compelling story. We stay focused on those essentials and make sure every client receives the same level of care, attention, and creative investment. No matter the size of the project, our approach remains rooted in the craft that built our company in the first place.
One of your major strengths is speed, with first drafts sometimes ready in just one to two days. How do you achieve this rapid turnaround without sacrificing the quality of the final product?
Tim Oxenreiter: We spend a tremendous amount of time in pre-production, which makes the production and post-production process much more efficient. Before we even begin editing, we typically know what shots we need, how they’ll fit together, and how the story needs to flow to communicate the message effectively.
Because of that preparation, the editing process moves quickly. We’ve already done much of the strategic thinking upfront, which allows us to focus on execution and refinement. That said, every project is different, and we remain flexible throughout the edit. We establish a clear roadmap from the beginning, but we’re always willing to pivot if we discover a better creative approach along the way.
In many ways, our speed is a result of preparation. The more intentional we are upfront, the faster we can deliver without compromising quality.
The Telly Awards highlighted your success across a wide range of categories, from local TV to documentaries and social content. How do you adapt your creative vision to fit such different formats and budgets?
Tim Oxenreiter: When producing content, it’s critical to understand both the audience and the platform. A documentary, for example, allows for a different pace and storytelling approach than a 30-second television commercial or a piece of social content.
We always start by identifying the core message we want to communicate. From there, we adapt the creative execution to fit the intended audience, platform, and budget. While the format may change, our goal remains the same: tell a compelling story that connects with viewers and delivers results. By staying focused on that foundation, we’re able to create effective content across a wide range of mediums and project sizes.
Today, brands rely heavily on video to show their personality and build credibility. What is the most important element a company must include in their video to truly connect with their target audience?
Tim Oxenreiter: In my opinion, authenticity is the most important element of effective brand storytelling. Audiences connect with brands that are genuine, transparent, and willing to show who they really are.
People don’t just want to know what a company does, they want to understand the story behind the brand, the people behind it, and the values that drive it. That’s what creates trust and credibility. Brands shouldn’t shy away from showing their personality; they should embrace it. The more authentic the story, the more likely it is to resonate with the audience and create a lasting connection.
You mentioned that the sky is the limit and you are just getting started. What is your next major goal for Ox Productions in the coming years?
Tim Oxenreiter: For me, having fun, staying creative, and maintaining the energy that got us here in the first place will always be a priority. That mindset has been a big part of Ox Productions’ identity from day one, and we never want to lose sight of it as we continue to grow.
At the same time, we’re focused on building for the future. One of our next major goals is to create a dedicated studio space in Pittsburgh that will allow clients to produce high-quality content on-site and expand the range of services we can offer. It’s an exciting next step for us, but regardless of how much we grow, our goal is to continue bringing the same creativity, passion, and personality to every project we take on.
Our conversation with Tim Oxenreiter reveals a clear formula for success in video production: combine authentic storytelling with rapid execution. By staying true to its boutique roots while expanding its technical capabilities, Ox Productions delivers high-impact results across multiple formats. The company’s recent Telly Award highlights this unique ability to handle diverse projects efficiently.
As digital platforms grow, the demand for clear, engaging video content will only increase. Brands that invest in strategic, well-crafted stories will hold a distinct advantage over their competitors. Production partners like Ox Productions will play a critical role in helping businesses turn their messages into visual content that drives real growth.
