While many entrepreneurs spend their careers building expertise in a single industry, Sam Dehko has taken a different approach.

Known professionally as Dehko, the Michigan-born entrepreneur has built a career that spans business, music, investing, and fitness. From performing as a teenage DJ in front of thousands of people to operating multiple businesses and creating his own music genre, Dehko’s journey has been defined by a willingness to pursue opportunities wherever they appeared.

For Dehko, entrepreneurship started long before he ever launched a company.

Growing up in West Bloomfield, Michigan, he was heavily influenced by watching his father run a business. Seeing the responsibility, long hours, and commitment required to build something successful left a lasting impression at a young age.

“My parents gave me support, values, and opportunity,” Dehko says. “What they didn’t give me was a shortcut. Everything I wanted, I had to go earn.”

That mindset showed up early. In middle school, he sold phone cases to classmates. Later, he began buying and reselling sneakers online, learning firsthand how markets, customers, and risk worked.

One experience in particular left a lasting mark. As a teenager, he sold a pair of Air Jordans online for several hundred dollars. The buyer claimed they were counterfeit, kept the original shoes, and returned fake replacements. He lost both the shoes and the money.

Looking back, Dehko says the incident taught him one of his earliest business lessons.

“That was probably one of the first times I learned that setbacks are part of the process,” he says. “You either quit or keep moving.”

Around the same time, another passion began to take shape.

At age 12, Dehko became fascinated with DJing. After receiving his first equipment setup, he immersed himself in learning everything he could about music, performance, and production. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into paid opportunities.

By high school, he was performing throughout the Detroit area and appearing at major venues including Vogue, Elektricity, and Annex. Some of those events attracted crowds of more than 2,000 people.

While the music was exciting, the business lessons proved equally valuable.

Building audiences, promoting events, selling tickets, and developing a personal brand taught him skills that would later become essential in entrepreneurship.

“I didn’t realize it at the time,” he says, “but I was learning marketing and business years before I started my first company.”

At the same time, Dehko developed a serious commitment to fitness.

At 17, he won the Mr. Northern Michigan Men’s Physique Championship, an accomplishment he still considers one of the most important milestones of his life.

The experience reinforced something he carries into every business venture today: meaningful results require consistency.

Fitness, entrepreneurship, and music may seem like completely different worlds, but Dehko believes they all reward the same qualities; discipline, patience, and execution.

His interest in personal development also continued to grow. Through books, mentors, and educational programs, he became a student of business, psychology, leadership, and self-improvement.

More importantly, he focused on applying what he learned.

“Information by itself doesn’t change your life,” Dehko says. “Execution does.”

That philosophy would eventually influence a major decision.

While attending Wayne State University, Dehko realized that his entrepreneurial projects and music ventures were already creating opportunities that many people wait years to find. After his first year, he made the decision to leave college and pursue entrepreneurship full-time.

It wasn’t a decision based on certainty. It was based on conviction.

Over the years, Dehko has helped build businesses across multiple industries while continuing to expand his music career and investment portfolio. He is also the creator of Tektroit, a fusion of Detroit rap and electronic dance music that reflects his tendency to combine ideas from different worlds rather than stay within traditional boundaries.

That same philosophy continues to define his broader career.

Many people spend years trying to figure out which path to choose. Dehko never felt the need to choose just one.

Business, music, fitness, investing, and personal growth have all remained important parts of his identity, and he believes each area strengthens the others.

Today, his focus remains on long-term growth. He continues to expand business ventures, invest in future opportunities, grow the Dehko music brand, and explore new creative projects.

Looking ahead, he sees the next phase of growth extending far beyond Michigan.

His plans include expanding nationally and internationally, increasing performances, growing investments, and continuing to build businesses that create lasting value.

For Dehko, success has never been about fitting into a single category.

It’s about pursuing excellence wherever opportunity exists.

And in a world that often encourages people to stay in one lane, that willingness to embrace multiple paths may be what sets him apart most.
