In the traditionally male-dominated oil and gas industry in Nigeria, Nnenna Maduabum stands out as a beacon of female leadership and entrepreneurial success. With a background in business and executive education from the University of Cambridge, Nnenna combines her sharp business acumen with a passion for innovation and social impact.
Nnenna’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2012 when she entered the oil and gas sector. Recognizing a gap in the market, she founded Numad Energy in 2015, offering engineering, procurement, construction and installation services (EPCI).
Nnennaās hands-on experience and deep industry knowledge quickly positioned Numad Energy as a trusted partner for major players in the sector.
Her fearless spirit was on full display when she exhibited Numad Energy at the prestigious Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.
This bold move not only showcased her company on a global stage but also highlighted her determination to break barriers as one of the first female business owners from Nigeria to exhibit at OTC. Nnenna’s presence sent a powerful message about the rising influence of women in the oil and gas sector.
Building a Thriving Business Ecosystem
Despite facing skepticism and doubt, Nnenna persevered. She built a strong network, secured crucial contracts, and expanded her company’s offerings.
āI’ve built my network from friendships. I’m the kind of person you can call at 11:00 pm and say, ‘Can you meet me?’ and I’ll be like, ‘Sure, I can meet you there,’ and I’ll get up and go.ā
Today, Numad Energy stands as a testament to her resilience and business savvy, providing a full range of EPCI services.
“We’ve strategically positioned Numad Energy to be capable of handling any project that comes our way. We’ve made sure that we have all the necessary qualifications and resources in place, so when opportunities arise, we’re ready to step up and deliver.”
Nnenna’s vision didn’t stop there. In 2019, she conceptualized Life Friends, an app designed to combat loneliness and foster intergenerational connections among older adults. Numad Technology was born to bring this vision to life. Life Friends is poised to revolutionize how seniors connect and engage, pairing “Soul Birds” with younger “Life Birds” for companionship and shared experiences. Nnenna’s commitment to local communities is also evident in her venture, Numad Foods. A packaging company at heart, with a focus on locally sourced produce.
Empowering Others
Beyond her business ventures, Nnenna is also passionate about sharing her knowledge and empowering others. She has taught numerous individuals how to leverage LinkedIn for professional growth, demonstrating her commitment to uplifting others and fostering a spirit of collaboration. Her popular masterclasses have attracted a global audience, further solidifying her reputation as a thought leader and mentor.
A Vision for the Future
As Nnenna looks to the future, she envisions the Numad Group becoming a global force, with plans for international expansion and continued innovation. She is committed to solidifying Numad Energy’s presence in the oil and gas industry, while simultaneously expanding the reach of Life Friends and Numad Foods.
Nnenna’s ultimate goal is to create a lasting legacy of empowerment and positive change. She aspires to be a catalyst for local content development, a champion for women in business, and an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs everywhere. Her story serves as a reminder that with passion, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in oneself, it’s possible to break barriers, redefine industries, and build a brighter future for all.
