Read moreApple Inc. held its "California Streaming" event on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. At the virtual event, which kicked off at precisely 10:00 AM Pacific Time, Apple revealed a number of its new products including the iPhone 13, Apple Watch 7, new iPad 9, and an iPad mini 6. The event also saw quite a few service announcements for Apple TV Plus and Apple Fitness Plus too.
Last year, Apple split its top launches into a series of virtual keynotes, and while we are still anticipating multiple Apple events before the end of 2021, the September installment is probably the one most people care about. The event, which is Apple's third 2021 event, also saw the complete unboxing and description of the new iPhone 13, including the latest upgrades, including the Apple Watch 7 and the AirPods 3. At the event, attendees also caught a glimpse of the iPad Mini 6 and a ninth-generation iPad scheduled for release later this year. Apple's first event in April saw the unveiling of the new iPad upgrades, colorful iMacs, AirTags trackers, a purple iPhone 12, among several other new products and features. Two months later, Apple held its WWDC developers event, where participants saw the first look at iOS 15, macOS Monterey (aka MacOS 12), WatchOS 8, and iPadOS 15.
Following the September 14 launch event, it appears that Apple could hold the fourth event this year. And while responding to a question about new Macs on Twitter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman says that he expects "there will be two events" from Apple this fall, as usual. Gurman says the first will be centered around the iPhone and Apple Watch, while the second event could focus on new Mac models and iPads. Again, this is a pattern Apple has followed in years past.
Apple typically hosts three to four events in a year with a spring event, a summer developer conference, and one or two more events in the fall. The fall events are usually scheduled for September and October. The September event features new iPhones and Apple Watch upgrades, while the October event typically features new Macs and iPads, which tallies with Gurman's prediction.
Apple Inc. is an American multinational technology company that specializes in consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. Apple is the world's largest technology company by revenue (totaling $274.5 billion in 2020) and, since January 2021, the world's most valuable company. As of 2021, Apple is the world's fourth-largest PC vendor by unit sales, and fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer. It is one of the Big Five American information technology companies, along with Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook.
In August 2018, Apple became the first publicly traded U.S. company to be valued at over $1 trillion and the first valued over $2 trillion two years later. It has a high level of brand loyalty and is ranked as the world's most valuable brand; as of January 2021, there are 1.65 billion Apple products in use worldwide. However, the company receives significant criticism regarding the labor practices of its contractors, its environmental practices, and business ethics, including anti-competitive behavior and materials sourcing.
