A spokesperson for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday that the UK’s deportation plan for asylum seekers to be sent to Rwanda may take longer than expected as the government faces legal challenges on a policy for migrants crossing the Channel.
The spokesperson added it might be months before the first flights carrying migrants from Britain to Rwanda leave.
“We have received pre-action correspondence. Those legal challenges obviously may be a factor that can mean it takes longer to implement the policy,” the spokesperson told reporters.
