Fixasphalt.com has been providing trusted asphalt and paving solutions for over 20 years

Since its founding in 2001, FixAsphalt.com has earned a reputation for doing things differently in the asphalt and paving industry. In a space often clouded by unreliable operators and varying levels of workmanship, Steve Brahney and his team have strived to carve out a space defined by credibility, consistency, and technical expertise. With over two decades of commercial paving experience, FixAsphalt.com is now entering an exciting new chapter—one built on hard-earned trust, innovative approaches, and a renewed commitment to growth.

Steve Brahney’s journey in the industry began long before the company did. At just 12 years old, he was painting parking lot lines for a family friend with a large paving operation. Throughout high school and college, Brahney stuck with it, developing a keen interest in the hands-on work and entrepreneurial spirit of the business. However, it wasn’t until a brief post-college stint in the corporate world that he realized his future wasn’t in a cubicle. In 2001, with a few friends from college, he launched what would become FixAsphalt.com, initially focusing on residential work in the early years.

By 2003, the company shifted its focus to commercial clients, a decision that would shape its growth for years to come. From Fortune 500 retailers to regional chains, Brahney prioritized long-term, repeat business over one-off contracts. “We wanted relationships,” he says. “We wanted to be the go-to team for property managers who needed work done right the first time.”

But like many businesses, FixAsphalt.com faced significant challenges during the 2008 financial crash. With margins shrinking and costs rising, Brahney made a strategic decision: pull back from serving the entire East Coast and focus instead on four core regional markets. That decision, though difficult, allowed the business to maintain quality control, preserve its margins, and ultimately navigate through the downturn.

Behind the scenes, Brahney was navigating personal changes as well. Years of grinding 80-hour workweeks had taken a toll on his marriage and home life. After a wake-up call from his wife, he shifted focus, choosing to downsize operations temporarily so he could be more present for his family. “My wife looked at everything we had and said, ‘This is what you wanted, and we’re leaving.’ That was the turning point,” Brahney recalls. He worked hard to rebuild, not just at home, but within himself. For nearly a decade, he maintained the business while prioritizing family time, a decision he says was worthwhile despite the financial sacrifices.

Today, FixAsphalt.com is gearing up for its next phase. With his kids grown and his wife launching a successful travel business of her own, Brahney is entering a new phase of growth. But this isn’t a return to hustle culture; it’s an expansion built on smart systems, valued partnerships, and emerging technologies. FixAsphalt.com now uses an AI-powered tool that calculates pavement health scores using drone imagery, regional geology, and surface condition data. This technology provides clients with clear, data-backed recommendations, focusing on quality service rather than upselling.

FixAsphalt.com’s offerings include asphalt paving, parking lot repairs, and pavement preservation. The team manages all materials and project coordination in-house while using a blended model of in-house crews and a trusted network of partners for installation work, combining flexibility with quality assurance. It’s a model that allows the company to scale without sacrificing standards.

After more than 20 years in business, Steve Brahney isn’t slowing down; he’s just getting smarter. “Most people start dialing back at 50,” he says. “I’m ramping up.” With a legacy of integrity behind him and innovation at his fingertips, the road ahead looks promising.
