Elena Kaminskiy on Finding Time for Family While Pursuing Entrepreneurial Goals

Regardless of how many risks there are and how difficult circumstances can be, having faith, determination, and perseverance can take a person a long way in business and life in general. Elena Kaminskiy, a serial entrepreneur and investor, is a testament to this.

Elena and her family relocated to the United States from Kyiv, Ukraine. Coming to America with little resources, her father had to work multiple jobs to support their family financially. Eventually, he started his own janitorial business and a coffee shop later. Elena learned the value of hard work throughout her youth by working alongside her father. When she turned 18, she married and moved to San Diego to start her own family. With her husband, Elena started a handyman company, which flourished to become an award-winning and full-service design and remodeling company 15 years later.

Currently, Elena is the Director of Operations for Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling. She oversees the firm’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that the team behind it continues to work hard and upholds the company’s dedication to becoming San Diego’s leading quality remodeler. Her goal is to make Kaminskiy Design and Remodeling stand out in a crowded market while maintaining its excellent reputation.

Outside of the design and remodeling company, Elena found a reason to start her own brand, the Flawless Face Pillow. The idea for the brand came out from Elena’s frustration of sleeping with creams and moisturizers on, only to wake up with dry skin as the substances get absorbed by flat pillows. She spent hours researching and purchasing anti-wrinkle pillows that claimed to be the best on the market. Eventually, she realized that each pillow had the same design: a flat pillow with a cut out where the cheek is supposed to fall. Unfortunately, this did not work for Elena, as she woke up with her face still on the flat portion.

Elena decided to take the matter into her own hands and brainstormed ideas to create her own pillow prototypes, purchasing materials and foam from the craft store. It took her 20 prototypes before she successfully came up with the product she launched as the Flawless Face Pillow.

“I designed this pillow to stay with you all night, whether you are sleeping on your back or your sides,” she explained. “The pillow is super soft, comfortable, and comes with a custom satin pillow cover. We also design and manufacture our pillows in the USA.”

Elena’s success in the industry gained her a feature in the NYC Journal as one of the 30 women entrepreneurs to look out for this 2022.

Despite being busy, Elena does not forget to maintain balance in her life. Elena is even more admirable because she accomplished all this while being a full-time wife and mother of three. She conveys a message to other women about how having a family and maintaining a career at the same time is possible.

When asked what she wants to impart to hopeful entrepreneurs, Elena shared, “No one ever said going after your dreams would be easy, but know this: it’s possible.” She is committed to helping other people unlock their potential and go after their dreams.
