(NEW YORK, 20 July 2022) The NFT space has grown massively in the past year, with many creative projects launched daily into the metaverse. To celebrate the milestones and welcome the blockchain future, high-profile celebrities, investors and NFT enthusiasts kicked off NFT.NYC 2022, a leading NFT event organized in New York City annually fondly dubbed the Superbowl of NFTs. At the high-powered event, International filmmaker, singer and actor Stephen Fung took to the stage to announce the official launch of Departed Apes NFT, an innovative project bridging the gap between filmmaking and blockchain technology.
Departed Apes NFT is a collection of 8.027 highly stylized characters operating on the Ethereum blockchain. Adapted from the hit Scorsese film "The Departed," the NFT collection roams the parallel universe of the internationally acclaimed crime thriller "Infernal Affairs." The distinctive design of each character in the wildly creative project was created by Marvel Cover Artist Logan Lubera, a world-renowned comic artist best known for Revenge of the Cosmic Ghost Rider. Lubera brings his talents and expertise to the project's art direction to execute the unique aesthetics of classic American comics.
At the official launch of the Departed Apes NFT collection, Stephen Fung declared his newfound passion for digital artists and NFTs on stage. He shared his excitement about the NFT ecosystem, saying, "revealing an NFT reminds me of opening a new toy on Christmas." Incorporating a note of nostalgia in his speech, the versatile entertainer got the audience of NFT enthusiasts moving, evoking a sense of pride, joy and celebration as he reminded everyone of the endless possibilities of NFTs.
A wildly creative project, the Departed Apes NFT represents a more cinematic side of digital art while showcasing the creativity of the brilliant minds behind the art. The collection brims with unparalleled utility for prospective holders and, as a result, has piqued the interest of NFT enthusiasts and investors alike, cementing its position atop the trend table as one of the most sought-after projects in the digital space today.
Earlier this year, Stephen co-founded Grid6 Studios alongside Media Asia Group and Everest Venture Group. The company is renowned for its contributions to film, television, and the advancement of blockchain technology as it bridges the gap between the entertainment industry, Hollywood and blockchain technology by introducing the much-needed cinematic flair and storytelling to the Web3.0 environment. Grid6 Studios is leading the web 3.0 investment space and recently participated in Dapper Labs, Animoca, the Sandbox, Yuga Lab and more.
"Our community is essential to us. We want to build a platform that aspiring directors, producers, writers, actors, critics, or movie fans would love. So they can take part in a future milestone – The departed Apes animation feature. We will also be holding AMAs (Ask Me Anything) with accomplished guest speakers from all over the world," shared Stephen Fung.
Among the AMA's speakers is Asian-American actor and an international household named Daniel Wu. Wu already attended an after-party hosted by Grid6 Studios in Manhattan, New York, a high-profile event attended by over 200 collectors, investors, and film enthusiasts.
At the end of his speech, Stephen Fung promises the Departed Apes community an exciting roadmap from exclusive events to perks of ownership. The actor, singer and film director closed his speech by quoting a line from the beloved American sports film "Field of Dreams," saying: "If you build it, they will come."
