Haruki Murakami: Very few writers have the ability to use words to create a sense of nostalgia and magic realism. Although Gabriel Garcia Marquez is frequently the first author that comes to mind, another modern figure has made a name for themselves over the past several decades. One of the literary world's most underappreciated names is without a doubt Haruki Murakami. Although less well-known for his film adaptations than his contemporaries, Murakami has developed a cult following outside of Japan. As news broke that he will be publishing his first book in six years this April, fans will be excited to see what he can conjure with words.

The announcement

According to a statement made on Wednesday by Shinchosha Publishing, Haruki Murakami will release his latest novel in 2023. The popular publisher with a facility in Shinjuku, Tokyo, said that the book would be made available to the general public on April 13. The title of the book was left out, and the specifics of the story were also omitted. The next Murakami book, according to Shinchosha, will cost $22 or ¥2,970. Additionally, they stated that the e-book edition will debut on the same day.

Shinchosha admitted that they were unable to determine when the Haruki Murakami book will be translated and published. Although they are unable to reveal the title of the book, they did guess that it would have 1,200 Japanese manuscript pages. Additionally, the publisher has not yet reached a conclusion about how many pages the novel will have.

In 2017, Haruki Murakami released his last novel. According to the author's wishes, the specifics of the book Killing Commendatore were kept secret before it was published. Murakami encouraged readers to explore the book without any prior knowledge, according to Shinchosha at the time. Major Tokyo bookshops stayed open until midnight at the 2017 book launch to allow customers to purchase a copy right away. The English translation was printed by Philip Gabriel and Ted Goossen as a single 704-page book. In 2018, Alfred A. Knopf published the translated book in the US. Along the way, he accepts a position as an art instructor, agrees to complete a painting commission, and encounters an enigmatic "Idea."

The author revealed that many of the characters in his books make comments on how things are going around them and say that they are going through the same things he is.
