However, those who have just finished watching the second season of The Mandalorian might be wondering how baby Yoda, whose true name was finally revealed to be Grogu, managed to return to Mando. Here, we track Grogu's footsteps as he returns to his father, The Mandalorian.

Din Djarin handed Grogu over to Luke Skywalker, who hadn't been seen since The Return of the Jedi, as the epic Season 2 of The Mandalorian came to a close. Djarin had become close to Grogu over the course of several expeditions, so losing him was heartbreaking. It was generally anticipated that Grogu would stay with Luke while Mando continued his intergalactic bounty hunts. For devout Star Wars fans, the spinoff of another fan favorite, Boba Fett, tells how the two were reunited.

The Book of Boba Fett

In season 2 of The Mandalorian, the beloved bounty hunter from The Empire Strikes Back triumphantly made a comeback. Following the conclusion of The Mandalorian season 2, the long-awaited miniseries about Boba Fett's exploits with Fennee Shand was ultimately published in 2021. However, a lot of people believed that his spinoff accomplished more than anything else to prepare viewers for The Mandalorian season 3. In The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu's apprenticeship was shown as being overseen by Luke Skywalker with training with droids. When Mando visited his surrogate son, he was not allowed to see baby Yoda. Luke Skywalker denied the visit, citing the Jedi Order's philosophy against developing emotional bonds. Grogu was given the option of a lightsaber or a piece of beskar armor by the Jedi master. He was supposed to be able to choose between the Jedi and the Mandalorian ways during the test. Grogu ultimately decided to follow the Mandalorian way and give up the Force, opting instead for Mando's armor. Grogu's future

Din Djarin and Grogu's reconciliation helped to mend their relationship, and the new trailer could have foreshadowed to baby Yoda's future. Grogu's decision to embrace the beskar meant that he would give up Luke's mentorship and droid training in addition to adopting the Mandalorian way of life. Djarin explains to his son what it really means to be a Mandalorian in the season 3 teaser. Mando educates Grogu in galactic navigation as well. Baby Yoda discovers what it takes to follow "the way" after deciding to follow the Mandalorian path rather than that of the Jedi in season three.

Inevitable reunion

In the vast Star Wars universe, there are more ties between tales than one could ever imagine. Djarin and Grogu were split up in season 2 and then reunited in season 3, which was one of the studio's oddest moves. Even more than the Boba Fett series, The Mandalorian is one of the series that has done the most to unify fans old and new. Because of this, many casual viewers will be happy yet puzzled. The bond between Djarin and Grogu is the lifeblood of The Mandalorian, so ending it for the third season feels like a tremendous oversight. The bounty hunter, hs son, and their adventure of the Star Wars universe in the episode appeared inevitable. The Book of Boba Fett appears to be more an attempt to bridge the gap beyond just fan service. Grogu's choice to stick with Luke Skywalker was always going to be a phase in the broader plan. Before the main storyline starts, Mando and Grogu will probably travel and engage in lesser adventures over the first part of the third season.
