The ‘Star Wars’ franchise dissented from racist and negative comments directed at Moses Ingram after she received hundreds on social media.
The Star Wars Twitter account responded to critics and expressed that they are very ‘proud’ to welcome Ingram to the fold as she made her debut as Reva in the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi.”
“If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.”

“There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist,” the franchise added.
According to the Star Wars actor, hundreds of derogatory terms were thrown at her by social media citizens, and she posted multiple examples of it on her account. “There’s nothing anybody can do about this. There’s nothing anybody can do to stop this hate,” Ingram told her supporters in an Instagram story.
“The thing that bothers me is … this feeling of like, I just gotta shut up and take it, I just have to grin and bear it. And I’m not built like that,” Ingram added. “Thank you to the people who show up for me in the comments and in the places that I’m not going to put myself. And to the rest of y’all, y’all weird.”
The incident is not new to the industry, more particularly in the franchise. Co-actors John Boyega and Kelly Marie Tran also became subject to racist remarks after they appeared in the Star Wars movies.
Tran is the first woman of color to snatch a major role in the Star Wars franchise. Following her appearance last 2017 in “The Last Jedi,” the actress wrote about the harassment she got from people on social media through an op-ed in New York Times.
The hateful messages she received led Tran to quit social media and to spend therapy sessions.
Similarly, Boyega also received racist remarks from many fans following a role in the Star Wars 2014 movie “The Force Awakens.”
