The World Wrestling Entertainment confirmed on Monday that pro wrestling star Scott Hall has died at 63.
“WWE is saddened to learn that two-time WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall has passed away. WWE extends its condolences to Hall’s family, friends and fans,” the company posted on Twitter.
Hall’s longtime friend and teammate, Kevin Nash, revealed on his Instagram on Sunday that Hall had been taken off life support after experiencing serious health complications following his hip-replacement surgery earlier this month in Marietta, Georgia.
“My heart is broken,” Nash said.
In the 1980s, Hall joined the pro-wrestling world and rose to fame after joining WWE in 1992, which, at that time, was known as the World Wrestling Federation. With the Razor Ramon persona, a swaggering, toothpick-chewing Cuban-American heavy, he was eventually known as “The Bad Guy.”
Hall and Nash teamed up in 1996 as the Outsiders at the World Championship Wrestling. Alongside Hulk Hogan, they created the bad-boy group New World Order or NWO, which helped achieve the company’s success and publicity to their high-profile rivalry with WWE.
WWE bought WCW in 2001, and by 2002, Hall returned to pro-wrestling. During his time, he won multiple championships and was eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 and 2020, alongside NWO.
He is survived by his two children, his son Cody Taylor and his daughter Cassidy Lee.
